As a PlayStation-centric site, I'm not even sure we should be reporting on this. But dragons are involved, so…
One nosy gamer in the Bethesda forums has gone through the game's 1.8 patch source code and in doing so, has found a few references to "Dragonborn" and "DLC2."
The user also said the expansion will give us new armor types, and may actually allow us to ride dragons. The latter is by far the coolest part of the theory, isn't it? Evidently, the setting may be the island of Solstheim, which is northwest of Wardenfell and east of Skyrim; if it's an island, it'd make sense to be able to fly… It should also be noted that Bethesda parent company Zenimax Media filed a trademark for the name "Dragonborn" some months back, so this is a definite possibility.
The DLC is probably coming although admittedly, we're not sure about the riding dragons part (no one is). PS3 owners may not care, because they're probably convinced they'll never see this expansion, anyway. Bethesda hasn't managed to deliver any other Skyrim DLC to Sony's platform yet so why should that change for Dragonborn?
Related Game(s): The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Sounds cool if they do it. Bethesda should really get their butts in gear with the DLC they have yet to release for the PS3. Honestly They should apologize to us by offering some sort of Bundle deal. They really screwed us over… At least we still have Oblivion 🙂
If the PS3 owners never get it, then oh well, at least we can always go back to riding dragons in the re-patched "Lair".
@BikerSaint
Was Lair any good after the patch? I just remember the horrid reviews due to frustration with the Six-Axis controls.
Edit: For some reason I selected reply but it did not reply to your comment

I found it easier to use the sixaxis after the patch.
Although it may have been better after the patch, I'll be honest I have a completely different view than everyone else. I was fine with it. I actually enjoyed the game very much, probably because I wasn't complaining about the six-axis the whole time.
laxpro,
Not really sure because it's still sitting in my backlog.
Maybe someone who's played Lair in both pre-patch & post-patch can comment better on it than I can.
But, I have heard that it's better now since you're not forced in only using the 6-axis controller's side-to-side motion to ride & glide the dragons.
BTW, I had sampled it for a few moments back then & had no problems while using the 6-Axis for dragon flight.

Biker Saint,
Wow! how long has that been sitting in your back log. lol. I was just curious anyway. I refuse to add anything else to my back log. Its unfortunate how as we get older we get less time to enjoy the pleasure of gaming.
Panzer Dragoon!!!
I personally don't really care any more as I've gotten my fun out of Skyrim, but it's sad to see PS3 fans thrown under the bus. This kind of stuff has to change before Fallout 4.
kept telling myself to get it for pc, but that damn voice in my head saying Skyrim on 19" or Skyrim on 43" won out.
Still the right decision despite not having to pay for DLC.
I did the same thing, but went the other route with a couple thoughts: it's Bethesda (they constantly shaft PS3 owners), customisable graphics options, and mods.
Helps that I can hook the tower up to the television and play it on a big screen as well.
With the game as broken as it is. There will be no DLC coming. I am not keeping my hopes up for this. Sony should just recall their devkits and wash their hands from them. Its not like they know how to use them anyways.
PS3 owners should get something wether it be a 10% off the dlc when and if it releases or an apology… Something. We've got nothing, except a lame explanation. It's good Sony is apparently helping but that doesn't dispute the fact that I still paid full price for the game and am not getting the benefits of other content.
whats sad is most DLC for elder scrolls never came to the PS3
BUT Bethesda did have the DLC for fallout 3
so i trusted them
looks like i need to put them on the dont buy new only get used
mite even have to just hold out for GOTY copys
Lair wasn't that horrible. I just thought it wasn't that great in general. My honest opinion is that it was a relatively early PS3 programming attempt. If that makes any sense to anyone?
It makes perfect sense; it was the guinea pig. It tried, ultimately based on the response it failed, but for what it was and doing something new and different, it was great fun.
I'm glad I picked this game up on the 360, it runs a lot more smoothly, and Kinect support is kinda neat. In fact, it's one of the few reasons I bother playing the system anyway. Bethesda really messed up in the handling of Skyrim's PS3 version. I'm not purchasing any of their games for my PS3 until they resolve any "ridiculous issues" they have with the PS3.
Imagine if Bethesda actually spent more time refining and working on the PS3 versions of their games, with a more powerful system they'd easily be able to surpass the 360 version in terms of stability, etc.
aiy.. coz of trophies, i decided to get it on my ps3.. i always get games on ps3 as its my preferred system. platinum'ed it.. but.. damn.. bethesda. please do something about this.
i should have learned my lesson w/ Fallout3..
even.. new vegas. which was not from bethesda had so many problems.
their engines just dont work well with the ps3 or something.
Actually every report I have read seems to suggest that the DLC for Skyrim on PS3 is on its way. Of course it's all just speculation, but this line of code is kinda interesting: $DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT_PS3 DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT
This is the site I found it on:http://www.product-reviews.net/2012/10/17/skyrim-dlc-3-debuting-with-ps3-dawnguard-hearthfire/
I really hope that Bethesda has fixed the problems they were encountering. I have Skyrim on the PC and the DLC that has been released so far, but I still prefer the PS3 version. Although I must admit the mods that some of the users have created are awesome.
