Metal Gear Solid Coming to PS3

At a European launch event commemorating the release of Metal Gear Solid 3, the mastermind behind the series, Hideo Kojima, let slip a few details about the next installment.

First and foremost, Mr. Kojima confirmed that his team at Konami are working on Metal Gear Solid 4 (tentative title), and that it will be released for the next wave of consoles–the PlayStation 3 and possibly the Xbox 2.

Kojima also stated that the next game will be the beginning of a new storyline for the Solid Snake character, and that stealth won't be as integral to the gameplay as it has been in the last three Metal Gear Solid games. When asked to elaborate, Kojima would only say that their goal for this game is to give Snake "no place to hide."

Lastly, it was revealed that Kojima will not be the lead producer on the upcoming project. Instead, he is handing the duties over to Kenichiro Imaizumi, who has previously been producer and graphic designer on games such as Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Silent Hill, Silent Hill 2, Metal Gear Solid 2, and Metal Gear Solid 3.
