Saints Row PS3 Canceled, Sequel For PS3/360

It was one of the first great titles for the Xbox 360, and we had expected to see a version of Saints Row on the PS3. Well, we have good news and bad news on that front.

THQ released their fiscal year sales yesterday – they did quite well; topped $1 billion in sales revenue – but also of interest was a dual announcement concerning their controversial GTA-style game. First of all, the game did sell very well on the Xbox 360 (as did their other top-notch PC title last year, Company of Heroes ), but the original Saints Row will not be appearing on the PS3. That project has officially been canceled.

But don't start sighing in disappointment just yet. The team that would've brought you the original title in PS3 form has been moved over to the more important team: the guys that are working on Saints Row 2 . So here's the good news: that one will be available for both the Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2008, so at least we can look towards the future with a smile on our faces.

The game is too far off for us to have any screenies or videos just yet, but we'll keep an eye on it. And besides, it's good to know the PS3 will also be getting this anticipated sequel.
