Two things: 1. We've been hyping Dishonored ever since we saw it; we're convinced it will rule the school. 2. Bethesda has basically treated PS3 owners like sh** this generation.
The fact that the PS3 versions of their games are buggy as hell isn't news. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim suffered from a disastrous glitch that we didn't find out about until after playing for a while, and downloadable content is often late in coming to Sony's platform and again, it's often glitchy. Bethesda has had to work closely with Sony just to get the latest piece of DLC, Dawnguard, to work properly on the PS3.
I've said my piece on this before and I won't be changing my stance. However, if Arkane Studios can deliver a solid experience on the PS3, I'll take back some of the things I've said about Bethesda. According to what studio boss Pete Hines told a concerned gamer on Twitter (as cited by NowGamer ), they may have learned their lesson. Here's his encouraging response to the question, "Will Dishonored run properly on the PS3? I don't want another Skyrim ."
"Dishonored runs very well on PS3. Press have been playing it all month at QuakeCon, Gamescom, and here at PAX. Ask all the press playing the PS3 version if you don't believe me."
That's good to hear but frankly, I'll believe it when I see it. Dishonored is slated to release on October 9 and it should be one of the better games of 2012, if it lives up to expectations.
