Splinter Cell: Blacklist Gameplay Walkthrough: Feel Better, Fans?

I am – or perhaps was – a huge Splinter Cell fan. Up until Conviction , I had played and completed each and every entry, enjoying them all. I would always say that for my stealth fix, I would play SC for realism, authenticity, and better, more fluid control, while I'd play MGS for the superior storylines.

And then Conviction went and pissed me off. Big time. If I wanted to play a third-person shooter, I would, and it would be a darn sight better than whatever that was.

But boy, I'm feeling a lot better in looking at Splinter Cell: Blacklist , which is slated to come out during the first quarter of 2013 (so what else is new?). Here are over ten minutes of gameplay footage narrated by Ubisoft creative director Maxime Belland and hey…this looks like a return to form. There's still too much damn action but at least it looks cool (and functional), and I have the option of being stealthy more often than not.

Check it out.

I've never cared for this series. I always considered it the poor mans MGS but this one looks pretty sweet. I hope playing Conviction first isn't too important as I have absolutely no intention of buying a 360.

SC did a lot of things a lot better than MGS. Just not in the story department.

I just never liked the look and feel of these games. Though the only versions I ever tried to play were the PC versions. Maybe that had something to do with it.

Looks… depressing.

Why? It shows you can do both stealth and action depending on your whims, it obviously has tight controls, and it looks lovely to boot. What's to be depressed about?

Maybe I should have said bleak.

I get to meet Sam Fisher tomorrow. That's right. Michael Ironside in the flesh. I'm gonna try for an autograph. Now if only I had a physical copy of a Splinter Cell game. All of mine are digital versions on PC =(
I suppose I could take a photo of my Steam library of games and have him sign near the icon of a Splinter Cell game =p nah, that'd be silly.

I have been a long time Splinter Cell fan. It's always been the most realistic stealth action game I can think of and it was truly one of Xbox's finest franchises during it's time.
Anyhow, I didn't hate Conviction. Sort of liked it, really. I just didn't like losing the old for the new in this instance. It lost it's sim feel. Aside from that there were a few new cool tricks Sam could do.

THis new game looks pretty slick. I wanna play it!

Woo hoo Michael Ironside Booya!

Ask him how it feels to walk around with the voice of a bad-ass all the time. 🙂

and oh, btw, AC Revelations on Ubisoft's Uplay client for 7.50 tommorow (among other rock bottom deals) Poor Valve, another huge entity looks to be creating a platform they want to call their own 😉

Ask him if it's just a coincidence that he seems to play characters with missing limbs or losing limbs in a lot of his movies. 😉

Im trying to remember everything he's been in. I know Total Recall and I think Robocop (Freeze Creep!) but drawing blanks on the other stuff.

Total Recall, Starship Troopers, The Machinist…that's all I can remember off the top of my head. Lol, he either had a missing limb, or lost a limb(s) in all those movies.

I don't remember him in Robocop.

Have him record your answering machine "Everyone fights. No one quits."

Ironsides also had a lead role in that Canadian Biker mini-series, "The Last chapter" too.

never understand why conviction gets such a bad wrap.
i mean yea it was quite different from the old school splinter cells, but it was still a hell of allot of fun!
i loved hanging from windows and luring enemies towards me.
or using the sticky camera and playing that music to mess with enemies heads, it was so funny watching them freak out!
so i cant wait for this, especially for the new gadgets and the new killing in motion system!
i mean come on as if sam needed something to make him even more bad a$$!
the guy may be getting old, but he sure knows how to make people fall to their knees……..
