Want more fighters for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale ? Here they come.
Four more were unveiled yesterday at Gamescom, along with a hot new trailer (view it below). There are already plenty of first- and third-party icons involved in the melee, but you can't forget four of the most popular and beloved.
First up is Ratchet and Clank from Insomniac's esteemed franchise of the same name. The dynamic duo needed to be here; they're strongest at mid-range but they have the benefit of "varied angles of attack." Familiar weapons like the Combusto Pistol, R.Y.N.O. and Tesla Spikes are featured, too. Clank wields his powerful Chronoscepter and Mr. Zurkon pops up to give assistance as well. Spike is the second character; he's from Ape Escape and is a "well-rounded character" that uses traps and projectiles, along with a few "peculiar gadgets." Oh yeah…and apes. Don't forget the apes.
Dante from Capcom's Devil May Cry is another must, as this guy's sword skills and overall mobility make him a formidable opponent. Hack, slash and shoot your opponents into submission (you may also note that the character model is the new Dante; the one from the upcoming DMC reboot). Last but certainly not least is the cute but highly effective Sackboy from Media Molecule's award-winning LittleBigPlanet . He'll have a "panoply of items and gadgets" along with a "quirky and curious move set." It could take some practice to master him!

I so love that Spike is in this game. Seriously Ape Escape on the PSX was one of my favourite games. There was just SOOOOoooooo much content to that game. A huge story campaign and unlockable mini games ugh the game was so awesome.
I spent months playing the space apes minigame with my friend trying to out do our high score.
I wonder if this means we will see a proper next gen Ape Escape 4 😀
Don't get me started on how much I was bouncing around the room because Spike was announced. So much love. I thought that too, Ape Escape 4 NEEDS to come now! I'm shocked that they used the Million Monkeys Pipotron G in his moveset as well haha.

I'm not surprised that many don't know him. Although he is one of my favorite Playstation characters. He is from the game Ape Escape. I highly suggest checking the first game out as soon as you can. It is a fantastic game that is incredibly fun. Although I'm not sure if it's on PSN in America though. But if it ever does go to PSN, you should buy it! 😀
I believe it was also the first game ever to use the dual analog sticks!

ape escape was one of the franchises that pulled playstation through, both for the ps1 and ps2!

This is not my type of game but the more I see of it the more I want to play it.
Yeah and we get a free Vita copy with it 😀 man I can't wait. I'd just put myself in a frozen sleep till then if I could lol.
I'd love to see The Last Guy in this. He'd just be a little pixelated dude that'd be a 1/4 of the size of everyone else. That'd be hilarious. I'm sure there'll be new characters galore via DLC.
I'm sure we'll get plenty of characters after release, but hopefully the DLCs will be free so everyone has all the same characters….

I want Crash Bandicoot!!!!! I will pre-order in a heartbeat when they reveal him! And Cortex too please!!!!!!! Both make great adversaries.
Game is getting interesting, throw in Duke Nukem and we'll talk… you alien bastards.

Ape escape 1 was one of my favourite psx games, and easily my favourite platforming game on the psx. Gosh it was great.
I hope to steve they release an Ape escape 4
well it was actually announced E3 2010 same time they announced that crappy mini game for the move!
they announced 2 ape escape games at the same time, one a traditional AE game with the DS3 and one made specially for the move.
so hopefully its still in production and maybe will see it at TGS this year.
doubt it but that would be sweet!
I wonder if the DLC will be free like what Starhawk did? You know in order to keep everyone on the same playing field.
If they did that well, that is a day one purchase for me as I support people who dive me free DLC.
Still loving Starhawk, and the new maps they just gave it.
