It sounds a lot like Burnout: Paradise but nobody is complaining. Besides, it also sounds bigger and better…
EA has released a bunch of new information for the Criterion-developed Need for Speed: Most Wanted , scheduled to launch this fall for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
To get the full breakdown, just check out the slick introduction video below. Here are a few of the highlights: Modifying your vehicles will be a big part of the experience, as you'll be able to fiddle around with both mechanical (engine, suspension, brakes, etc.) and cosmetic (wheels, body, paint, etc.) elements. The game will also boast the single biggest and most diverse roster of cars ever seen in the Need for Speed franchise…and that's significant.
As for how we'll progress, we'll earn Speed Points, which is kinda like experience, and that will be used to unlock all sorts of goodies. I like the idea of having such a system, especially in an open-world environment that would encourage the accumulation of mucho Speed Points. Exploration in a racer, baby! Check out the good stuff:

This is why I love Criterion!
Why would anybody complain about a game sounding like Burnout Paradise? It gets me more excited for it.

There are some elements of Burnout that should not be in NFS games, period… like TAKEDOWNS. Are you kidding me? Oh yeah, *crash scenes* after every hard crash? No thank you. Most important of all, driving physics. I don't want to drift for boost.
I really like Burnout Paradise, but it's just wrong treating this franchise like it's a burnout sequel. Granted, it's too early too tell just where they;ll draw the line between the two franchises, but please be true to the original MW as much as possible.
Yeah….finally…Burnout Paradise 2….i'm totally psyched.
hmmm………
And who ever worried that criterion wasn't gonna deliver 😉
Me. Perhaps I'm one of the few that thought Hot Pursuit was underwhelming. For whatever reason, I still think the original Hot Pursuit 2 had more charm and memories than Criterion's version.
My definition of delivering is sticking to the original's root to nearly on point, or build upon it. If not, it's gonna have to outperform it and be better in most aspects of the original. That was not the case.
Criterion makes great burnout games, but they need more than one NFS games before proclaiming they're all time greats for NFS. Just because they make great Burnout games doesn't mean they make good NFS games, and there lots of different NFS games out there.
Gotta love Criterion. This is SO going to be mine.
looks like i might buy my first NFS title since underground 2….
and i am feeling a lot like playing driver right now for some reason
still waiting to see what types of races will be available in this.
i hope they have learnt their lesson with burnout paradise.
the chose your own route was really sweet, added so much more to the racing.
but that said racing half way across the map to take 1 wrong turn and that costing you the race, and if you want to re try you have to travel all the way back to the start of the race, SUCKED!
i hope they have boss battles too like what most wanted had, and the same reward system like MW but this time randomise it that way people cant look it up in a guide.
takes away the surprise and fun if you know what your going to get!
and of course the open world cop chases have to be there, along with the speed breakers and time outs.
and for the love of god please get rid of the heavy sluggish controls that completely ruined hot pursuit and the run!
I don't think I've played a NFS title in years. I might need to start getting into them again, I'll keep this on my watch list to see how it ends up, with cars, game modes etc.
I can't wait!
