God of War: Ascension is definitely one of our most anticipated titles, so the more details, the better.
A few more interesting pieces of info have found their way to the Internet, and just about all are mighty encouraging.
Firstly, the new title will "build on the God of War III engine," so we can expect better lighting, shading, and texturing, along with other graphical improvements. Secondly, the story should try to depict the "more human side" of the main character, Kratos, which should prove to be interesting from a plot standpoint. Thirdly, the team wanted fans to "start fresh with the series," which is why the new title isn't called "God of War 4." It's a definite prequel so they gave the new project a new name so people wouldn't get confused.
Last but certainly not least is the developer's take on multiplayer. As you already know, multiplayer will be featured in Ascension , and that's a first for the franchise. As you might expect, some long-time fans are concerned that such an addition will gimp the single-player campaign, which is of course the core of the series. But evidently, Sony Santa Monica says the single-player will in no way be "dumbed down," and they acknowledge that the solo campaign has always been the "bread and butter" of GoW. Still, they're "excited" about the multiplayer.
You can bet that more details will continue to surface in the coming months, so stay tuned.

I always wanted to play Gow 3 for longer than I did… So if they do it right i think this will be a win-win thing.
Hmm… I think there are some games that just don't need multiplayer. Why does almost every dev want to get into multiplayer now? What for the DLC $$$ squeeze? Git de puck. I would probably still get this new GOW but I probably wouldn't touch the MP with a 10 foot pole.
I said the same thing about ME 3 multiplayer and have put more hours into multiplayer then single player
I just don't get it. Why wouldn't you want to make your gaming experience last longer? If it's done right, that is. I always enjoy multiplayer when it keeps the essence of the campaign. Only few games do this, and even then I spend very little time online, but as soon as I saw that video, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. It looks like a blast.
because people are worried the time spent working on the MP was taken away from the time spent working on the campaign thats why people are always worried when a new game gets MP.
Multiplayer is looking immense from what they've shown!
GOW II was the PS2's swan song and I think Ascension will be the same for the PS3
It's good that they will attempt to humanize Kratos but this reboot just worries me. GOW should always be moving forward, not back.
Ascension is not a reboot…
It's restarting Kratos story with new mechanics and a new plot. Their statements indicate there will be more GOW games continuing from this, so yeah it's basically a reboot.
Was this in the Q&A? Sounds highly unbelievable… But hey, you wouldn't lie.
Cant wait for this Santa Monica has NEVER let me down !!!
I just can't seem to wrap my head around another prequel..I felt like all questions about the past had been answered. However, knowing they plan to humanize Kratos has me interested…The MP seemed like it has promise..Just need to see more than what I saw yesterday..
That multiplayer footage left me with a distinct lack of impression. Maybe it's just 'cos I'm biassed against it. I really did think that we'd see a change in the basic gameplay of the series yesterday, rather than MP tripe… So I'm actually rather let down by Santa Monica, even though I knew it was coming.
I'm still hopeful.
sure sure, thats what bioware said about ME3!
and how did that turn out?
a pretty meh MP mode something done SOOOOOOOOOOOO many times before!
and a decent but could of been MUCH better campaign with a TERRIBLE ending!
so forgive me if i dont believe your typical PR talk.
