Now you've done it, Activision. You've got a bunch of irritated fans on your hands…you know you've seen it before…what will you do now?
What is being called the "MW3Blackout" is making some waves; you can check Twitter to learn a little more. Basically, fans of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 are planning a "blackout" day for April 20, 2012; nobody will play MW3 online to make a statement: Basically, they want Activision to address a bunch of game-related problems, starting with persistent lag.
Here's a video that will help explain things.
The list of problems they want fixed is quite long, and it includes Matchmaking options, changes to the "broken spawn system," more hardcore game modes, better Elite playlist options, the removal of any assault killstreaks from the support package, the fixing of LAN settings for competitive events, etc.
Okay, well, just so all you people are aware…if every last one of you opts not to play on the 20th, but then resumes play like normal on the 21st, Activision and Infinity Ward really might not give a damn. Fair warning.

This is nonsense, Activision has an extensive patch planned. In fact they release patches for this game every November.
As in a new COD game ? Thats an expensive patch.
It might be expensive but it's not like they are losing money.
I know a lot of people who left Battlefield 3 because they felt it wasn't worth the price and didn't live up to the hype. They also felt there were many issues with the game.
I used to play them on Battlefield 3, but I haven't touched Battlefield 3 after Uncharted 3 came out.
So you leaving the game behind is an indicator that others are leaving in droves? Give me a break. There is never a shortage of games to join. The servers are always busy. Just because you left and some of your friends doesn't mean everyone else is.
Also, the reply button is a neat thing. You should try using it.
Fine, here is your reply. I didn't say BF3 is dead, I just said people left BF3.
It did come before the big November rush after all.
There is more and more people going on BF3, now that you can rent a server and put different maps the server browser is a long list now 47+ servers to join, I stopped playing CoD and only join in once in awhile to play with buddies but most of my time is spent on BF3 now anyway.
Here's my question/comment on the whole thing.
Activision will just be putting out another CoD later this year, will implement some of these "fixes" and every single one of the people that is complaining now will be it then. Only problem is, it's going to be MW2/MW3 with another skin change.
If the people that are so hot and bothered right now really want to affect a change in the way the game is made and the problems they have with it, just don't buy every single iteration that comes out.
Bottom line is, Activision already have your money for MW3, not playing for a day isn't going to do anything to their bottom line for the game. You (the fans/purchasers) have already made them their money to cover this game, and in the end most will buy the map packs that come out.
This whole "protest" mentality is becoming silly and completely ineffectual.

Hahaha…what a terrible game. I left after MW1 and will never be back….fool me once shame on you, fool me twice and I'm the dumba$$.
Of all the days they could pick, they choose a day where people gather to together.
This might come to an advantage to them if people are busy celebrating else where other then sitting at home and playing while under the influence.
Even if gamers were to pull this off, how exactly would Activision feel a negative impact? That's a serious question.
You really want to get a message across, get a large group of gamers to not purchase any DLC or the next CoD installment until your concerns are addressed. Either that or this guy is a troll and is trying to get YouTube hits for $.
…I don't think this rebellion is having the effect the CoD fans thought it would.
Battlefield is thriving still and i think one of the major reasons is because DICE is always updating the game and fixing glitches. These updates are not small either. The last big one that dropped last week fixed ALOT of things. I applaud DICE for listening to their fans and making critical updates to make the game that much better. I'm not going to compare it to mw3 but i know COD in general is a very accessible game so i can definitely see how people would flock to it. BF3 honestly takes time to get good at and you have to put in work to actually be great at it. Since BF3 is a bit harder to get a hang of i can definitely see why people would leave it after a couple weeks. Doesn't mean the game is bad, some people just don't have the patience to stick with it.
I still play MW2, the games simply better than MW3.
lol pathetic…people still play this recycled reskinned crap?
just goes to show the kind of SHEEP that play that game, its not even a new engine, and i can count about 20 or 30 instances in wich its is BLATANTLY obvious that they reused mw2 textures and didnt even bother to retouch them.. lol at the killboard junkies, what the hells the matter with you? is your game really ruined because of whatever stupid number the killboard says at the end? i always thought kill streaks were stupid , i will be joining the blackout cuz i dont own that game, bf3 was more worth my money but tbh, neither of those games can compare to me3
This is so funny. Either way I bought the game used so I have in no way supported Craptivision or Infinity Ward this year. Only reason I got it, is because CoD games are pretty fun with friends. When you are a lone wolf, ouch. I would get BF3 if more of my friends played it, but sheep will be sheep.
So the CoD crowd is finally asking for a new game instead of this refresh of a refresh of a refresh refresh….
Its about time they wake up…they havent quite realized it yet but they are feeling something…its because they have been playing the same game over and over in disguise lol
They have a new vid out as of yesterday. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwNOJ9X1Ec0
