Quantic Dream's incredible tech demo, Kara, impressed a lot of people .
And those people are likely interested in learning more about how the developer created such a masterful presentation. That's why they issued this special behind-the-scenes "Making Of" video, so everyone can appreciate how much time and effort went into the demo. Hint- lots of time and effort.
As you'll see, they hired three actresses (besides Valorie Curry, there was one each for the German and French speaking, and the Japanese singing), and it took eight months before everyone was satisfied with the results and they began doing the motion-capture. It's definitely worth a look; check it out:
We're still waiting to hear about Quantic Dream's new project for the PlayStation 3. No, Kara isn't involved (yeah, too bad), but the theme may be featured in the new game. Here's hoping they reveal everything soon…we just can't wait to see it!
I agree, Ben. Kara was a great short film. And if that tech demo is a year old, I can't imagine how good Cage's new game looks. More importantly, I can't wait for another great David Cage drama!
I really wish their new game was about Kara, it's such an amazing concept.
Me too. Hopefully they're just being secretive about the project for now! Kara is too awesome of a concept and story not to be THE game.
I won't mind if they rename the lead, that way they can honestly say that the game wasn't Kara, but still be what everyone wants! 🙂
Well that explains how they tackled the accent issue.
I'll say it again… plz, plz let this be a demo/concept for a flushed out game. We need games on this nature. Fingers-crossed.
one thing is for sure. The codec did not do either video justice. Compression artifacts everywhere. Macro blocking galore.
Very intrigued to see how they apply the new engine and technology to a fully fleshed out game. It will be one of the top "last" releases to grace the PS3 as it will still take time for them to complete a descent game world I suspect.
We could see "Kara" out holidays 2013…
But then again by E3 2013 we could get an announcement about PS4!
So it will be interesting to see how it all plays out for the later AAA titles that are currently in production!
Q!

I still don't think it's accurate to say we know Kara isn't involved in the game at all. That one girl from the tech demo of HR wound up playing someone in Heavy Rain.
…………. just hurry up and announce your new game already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In a certain way, the concept from Kara is going to be used in their next game. If you think about the lines, she could be used for any means, change her appearance, speak any language, etc. Sounds like a base model before they get down to the bare bones of fully designing a character for the new game.
Maybe it's just the story of a robotic girl fitting into society that won't be the theme for the next game, but more of an AI character (Kara) fitting into a virtual world as a promising character in a game story. Maybe she'll be designed as a random store clerk, or kick ass fighter, who knows.
With all the crap that's been going down lately with some irate gamers going too far, here's a great chance for us to channel our gaming power to the "betterment" of gaming……..
Since the majority of us have seen, & have been "wow"ed by Quntic Dream's Kara tech vid, why not let David cage know that we really wish to see a QD game which actually involves the whole Kara concept.
It can't hurt to let QD know of your wishes(even if he is doing it), so I've taken the liberty to get all of QD's contact info.
Anyway, I know I'll be letting them know
