Max Payne 3 Multiplayer “Crews” Carry Over To GTAV

Now that's what we call cross-game goodness!

If you plan on picking up Grand Theft Auto V when it finally releases, you might want to consider grabbing Max Payne 3 first (it's set to launch in May).

According to what Rockstar Games co-founder and co-writer of GTAV Dan Houser told IGN , any "crews" you create and maintain in Max Payne 3 's multiplayer will actually carry over to GTAV's multiplayer, thanks to the Social Club integration. Said Houser:

" Multiplayer is an ever-more important part of all our games moving forward. And by creating crews through Social Club, the crews that you create in Max Payne 3 will be ready and available for you to play in Grand Theft Auto V from day one. It's all part of our larger approach to make multiplayer deeper and richer than what's currently available, much more easily accessible to the newcomer and rewarding for the hardcore. "

That's about all you'll hear concerning GTAV for now, though, as Houser said they "made a promise not to talk too much about forthcoming games until a little further down the track." However, just knowing that the Max Payne 3 and GTAV are linked in some capacity sorta makes us shiver with excitement. We can't be the only ones.

Incredibly cool.
Seems to be a sign of the times now with cross-game content creativity, both in single player and multi player gaming. Even across developer/publisher borders.
I really dig this!

Well..gives me a reason to actually use Social Club for once..Sounds like R* is really trying to improve the multiplayer experience

I was unsure whether or not I wanted to get Max Payne 3… but I think this definitely sealed the deal. I like how Rockstar is implementing this. The game looks great.

Looks sick. These 2 games are perfect examples of great single player experiences that will now implement multiplayer (in what looks like an awesome way). Silence the multiplayer-haters, rockstar!

I agree, let's just hope they don't gradually shift their focus to multiplayer because I think games benefit from both.

One multiplayer or online function I would love to see would be for a game like skyrim to have a way of trading with other players online. Keep it a single player experience exactly like it is now but have a central store in solitude or something where you can trade with PSN friends or whoever. It would be a cool option for those who want it and those who don't won't notice it's there.

What do they mean "crews"?

Probably something like in the sports games (Skate, hockey etc) where you create a group with members (typically RL friends) who then can do matches against other teams. Something like that, I would assume.

It's a very cool feature when you got regular buddies to go online with. In Skate we could have our own skate hall who we could design as we pleased with ramps and rails and stuff. And typically you team up with more or less the same guys in the next game too, so having a feature like this really makes a lot of sense.

Won't that give them an unfair advantage over newcomers on day 1 who don't buy MP3?

Well, I know no more about this than you do of course but that's very doubtful.
I guess what you carry over to the next game is only "cosmetic", things like the name of your crew, your crew outfit, your own avatar perhaps, maybe some "trophies" to hang on the walls in your crew hangout, stuff like that (just brainstorming now of course).

Never played multiplayer in GTA. That's what Saint's Row was for. SR is a more enjoyable series then GTA now in my opinion anyway.

SR is most definitely the better multiplayer alternative with their storyline coop – but then again mp in GTA4 were essentially dead boring.
I don't particularly like the mp in RDR either. Up until now Rockstar has most definitely only mastered single player gaming.
