No Online Pass Needed For Syndicate

Not all EA games have the now-standard Online Pass.

For example, Syndicate is free from the shackles of the Pass, as EA Partners executive producer Jeff Gamon told Eurogamer the decision was due to "an effort to encourage all players to play the shooter." Said Gamon:

"We want as little resistance or barriers to entry as possible. The co-op is equal billing in this. We wanted everyone who owns a copy of the game to have access to the entire product."

For the record, it's an EA policy that all games have the Online Pass, but this rule doesn't apply to EA Partners titles. The latter is responsible for past games like Portal 2 and Crysis 2 and if you recall, neither of those featured the Online Pass. Still, Syndicate is an EA-owned IP and by all rights, it should've had the Pass. Added Gamon:

"Under normal circumstances it would have had an online pass, but because it didn't have competitive multiplayer and because we wanted as many people as possible to be playing co-op, we got away with it.

Maybe another reason for not having the Online Pass is we were confident in the scope of the online game. "

Well, does this make you more interested in Syndicate ? Or do you remain indifferent? Personally, I can't wait to see how it turns out; it kinda reminds me of Deus Ex in some ways.

My instinct tell me this will be good. I'll be mighty disappointed if that turns out to be wrong.

demo was alright, except the trailer/montage that comes after shows some really awesome stuff that you don't get a chance at. Hopefully a single player demo is released eventually.

And yes I see the deus ex comparison but the overarching theme I think is quite a bit different ;P

A good move on nixing the online pass.
I'm getting a sort of Deus Ex vibe to it too, so I'm really hoping this game turns out great & does super-well in sales too to keep the franchise going.

Now where's the demo for all of us "single players", dammit??

Good!

This to me has ended up to being "one of those games", but I'll definitely give this a good consideration.

I am indifferent about it. I am keener to purchase "Dust514" then "Syndicate", even though Syndicate was one of my favourite games on the Commodore Amiga.

We will see how the review turns out!

every single game ive played online on launch has been a freaking mess!
