It's an intriguing incentive to get RPG aficionados interested in two very promising titles.
EA and 38 Studios have announced that a Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning demo will arrive next week on January 17 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Playing it will unlock special items in the game…but that's not all.
38 Studios has partnered with BioWare for some cross-promotional fun. If you play the demos for both Reckoning and Mass Effect 3 , you will receive more in-game items, including the Omni-blade daggers and N7 armor in Reckoning , and Reckoning-themed armor and an assault rifle (the Chakram Launcher) in ME3. Said Chairman and Founder of 38 Studios, Curt Schilling:
"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to deliver this massive one-two punch with Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and Mass Effect 3. We wanted to provide fans of the Mass Effect franchise with a unique set of rewards for diving into the expansive universe of Reckoning."
Yes, that Curt Schilling. The bloody sock Curt Schilling. He has been a big gamer for years, remember. If you're wondering, the Reckoning demo boasts the introduction portion of the game, which lets you sample the huge, immersive world while becoming familiar with the controls via tutorials. Demo length? 45 minutes.
By the way, playing that demo will not only unlock special items for ME3, it'll unlock items for 38 Studios' production as well (which only makes sense). You'll get the Twist of Fate Card (boosts the player's ice resistance), the Twinned Souls Chakram (weapon that boosts player health and mana), and the Infernal Helm (complete the Tutorial mode and get this; it increases a player's fire damage).
Items everywhere, so play both demos!
