Sometimes, rating boards for video games are great sources.
As noted by CVG , it seems a special edition of the highly popular Mortal Kombat reboot is in the works.
The BBFC (UK classification board for games) has rated the "Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition" and based on the evidence, it's set to release on February 17. Unsurprisingly, the collection earned an 18-rating. The game sold three million copies when it launched earlier this year and if we had to guess, we'd say this Kollection will probably feature all the downloadable content to date, plus a few extra features. You know, the standard stuff we see in re-releases of popular titles to entice those who missed out the first time.
Even though I'm not a fighting fan, I too reveled in the successful revival of the MK franchise. It was just great fun and reminded me of the good ol' days in the arcade…when I watched – rather than played – other people play MK. Just wasn't my thing. 😉

It was only a matter of time
This is why I don't buy brand new games anymore… Why bother when less than a year an extended edition will be released, this is what this gen will be remembered for.
I still buy brand new games lol I just don't buy them day 1 in fact for the 1st time this year the only game I've bought day 1 was Infamous 2 everything else I usually rent 1st then I'll wait a couple months to buy.

Well now I'm glad I waited, I still won't be plunking down full price, but when this is affordable I'll get it.
I almost bought this through Amazon last week but if this is true I'm glad I didn't.
oh i hope so, perfect way to get it in here!
also, anyone else here starting to see the new ratings posters up at EB?
just saw one today listing the new ratings information and finally theres a R rating and category listing on there.
strange, i thought they were not going to vote on it till next year?
hopefully valve now decide to do a complete edition for L4D2!
Don't get too excited, although R18+ is a shoe in, the guidelines i've read thus far don't seem that much different to what we had before. The RC category still remains which means games like MK will still get disallowed.
All they have done is altered the MA15+ category into an R18, the criteria within has not changed, all it means is that games like Dead Space & BioShock which are currently rated 15+ get shot up to R18+ (the new disguise for MA15) thus giving us shitkickers the illusion that we have an R18 classification when all it really is, is a new label for the same MA15 rating with had for years. To put it simply, we have R18+ for games now, but it's only to put titles like Left 4 Dead & Dead Space out of the MA15+ into the category, that is all it's about.
We're getting a kick-in-the-face deal which doesn't actually change anything but gives our government the upper hand in saying "well, they got their R18, what are they complaining about". In South Australia they're actually beridding the 15 category altogether so the gap between R18 & M is more clear whats for adults & whats for kids, so Uncharted will be R18 in Adelaide, how f4rking sad is that!?
I hope i am wrong & MK does get the green light, but i am not holding my breath.
no, games like MK will be rated R thats the whole point of the category.
the way its set up now is anything considered higher then high impact violence is banned, but with the R rating it will only be extreme circumstances like manhunt that will get banned.
same as sex and drugs, at the moment even a mention of drugs gets a game banned, look at fallout 3 had med X i think it was originally called steroids and that got the game banned so they had to edit it.
but with the new rating mentioning of drugs is fine, though not use for reward that will still get banned.
same as sex, simulated is fine as long as its not used as reward like it was in the witcher 2, that also had to be edited.
its not really a whole new rating, a small stretch of the limitations we previously had.
but it does mean we should not be getting games banned any more, because most games wont go outside the boundaries set.
I'm extremely happy that MK has been so successful. Unfortunately though, i can't see myself getting it. Playing online is just no where near as good as playing in the arcade was.
No way am i buying this when Soul Calibur V comes out the same month. I also wasn't a fan of MK's DLC, the classic fatalities & DLC characters were pretty poor imo, although Scarlett was fairly solid.
I hardly touch MK these days with Tekken Hybrid & KOFXIII out & will most likely never touch it again when Tekken Tag 2 & Soul Calibur V get released in all their customisational glory. It is just no where near as deep as the other fighting games for me & it's just always been lacking something. Atrocious character designs, no custumisation whatsoever, no free movement, light movelists etc etc.
Granted, the combos you can pull off work well but the movesets just feel so thin, two throws per character? Really? The content within is great though & the fatalities are nice & brutal but it gets old watching someone getting their bones yanked from their rectums over & over again. If this series wants to start reeling me in scorpion style it needs to completely revamp it's fighting system & offer a sh!tload more moves per character because whats on offer in the command lists pale in comparison to what you see in SCIV & Tekken 6. Comparing this to even Tekken Hybrids TTT HD moveset is almost laughable considering TTT was released back in 2000.
I know blood & gore almost defines this series (which is quite sad imo) but it's starting to get immature, if you want the red stuff then fair enough but also give me a tactical beat em up that involves mind games & indepth strategy with more variety like VF5 FS as well, until then i don't think i will bother with this series again unless it starts to become a brawler with brains rather than a brawler with blood.
& as for Freddy Kruger…. facepalm.

My controller still has memorys from my fists playing this years Mortal Kombat. Plus my teeth to add to that.
I recommend it, I bought the dlc pack with no regret..even MvsC3 dlc was okay the only fighter that let me down at dlc was Blazblue, I'm not gonna buy a game of that franchise again.
