Ben-DutkaThe rumor has been flying for a while: Sony might be working on a Super Smash Bros. -type fighter featuring popular PlayStation mascots.
Apparently, this rumor has received another boost thanks to leaked screenshots . These come from an employee's Twitter account, but the evidence has since been removed.
As for the possibility of such a title existing, Eat Sleep Play boss David Jaffe can't confirm anything, but he certainly loves the idea , and hopes it becomes a reality:
"4 folks asking if I know anything about this rumored Sony brawler:news to me but if it is real, count me super jazzed! Been wanting a game like that for a while! I can tell you I know some of the folks over at Superbot and whatever they R making- I genuinely don't have a clue- I am sure will be very cool cause they got some great talents over there!"
Yeah, it's something a lot of ardent PlayStation fans have wanted to see. And now that we have more Sony mascots that ever, the timing could be perfect to pit Drake against Cole or Kratos against Rico. Sony has yet to announce anything official concerning this project but when and if they do, it's gonna be pretty big.
kratos, hale, drake, jak, ratchet, sly, cole, elena, chloe, daxter, bentley, murray, elena, sev, sackboy, snake etc etc etc.

If this game does not at least equal Smash Bros or better, Please Sony do not even bother. It will disgrace not just one franchise but all that are involved. Do whatever it takes. Make this game a PlayStation MUST-HAVE!!!

yeah…. I'll just go out on a limb here and say it's definitely possible.
In most ways they could dominate, but I would be worried about gameplay.
It would be hard to make a similar game that is just as fun but noticeably different.
I don't mind if it is similar.
Just like Killzone is a shooter with similar to CoD mechanics…
This game could be alot like Brawl but with all PS characters. Though I really want final fantasy people in it too. Squall vs Cloud vs Crash vs Jehuty! lol

I love the super smash bros games, unfortunately i haven't played brawl because i don't have a Wii… yet.
Anyway i would be very interested in a Sony brawler similar to super smash bros.

If it is true, and it is happening, This would easily be a D1P for me!!
I love Super Smash Bros, but I found it a little too fast, a little too chaotic and the Wii controls made it really tough at times to keep control of my fighter.
I hope Sony find a nice balance between arcade beat em ups and hardcore fighting games, cos an exact replica of Super Smash Bros would be more harmful to its reputation.

Characters from the PS3's less known RPGs should also be included like Valvatorez from Disgaea 4 and Leonard from White Knight Chronicles
oh…it always saddens me when people miss out on one of the greatest badass brawlers of all time: Kazuma Kiryu (Yakuza series), unfortunately I doubt that many US players would know the guy.
Such a great game…can't wait for Yakuza 5.

If Sony can get the rights, I reckon John Marsden from Red Dead Redemption would make a good fighter. 🙂

Who would all the playable characters be? I read somewhere that it's going to be the title characters of each franchise, so:

in a game like this there really should be a good and a bad side, i would like to play as sev or rico but would love to play as a helghast, same wiht playing as hale/capelli and the chimera…heel maybe even throw zues in
i like pitting good vs evil in each of the respective game but them having sev fight a chimera or cole v. helghast would be epic imo

Throw in Chimera if you're playing as Nathan Hale, or the Helghast if playing as Sev. Zues from God of War, and perhaps an evil spirit risen from an ancient relic from the Unchated games. 🙂

I'll be damned, Paul Gale has confirmed it. Of course, that's provided that the bloke is legit. I have to ask though, who the hell are SuperBot, what have its members worked on in the past? It could be good, or it could be utterly disastrous. I'd love to see this take the Team Ninja route and try to reinvent the fighting genre by changing up mechanics, but I don't really see that happening. This will be by the numbers methinks.

SuperBot is a new type of robots that are modular, multifunctional, and easily reconfigurable. Its modules can be dynamically configured into different robots to fit the user's needs.
The reconfiguration and module exchanges are easy and do not require any special knowledge or training. Such robots are economic because a single robot can provide diverse behaviors and can be changed frequently.
Not sure how good they are at making games though. But if it is just a brawler then how hard can it be, really?
The biggest question everyone has I'm sure. Will they have to tame the Kratos beast?
I'm down with something like this. Looking at the screenshot I don't see really what the image actually confirms, other than nude fighting =p

Not sure about the rumor flying around since Paul Gale's site is the only one I'm aware of talks about this mysterious game. None of my friends know about it either. If a rumor, not a strong one. Or maybe I just don't visit many other gaming sites besides this lol.
Also, I don't get the screenshot. The first pic shows the modeling of a woman, but who, in Sony's franchise, could it be? Lara Croft? Second one is a pretty good model of Sweet Tooth I guess. Third one, wtheck?
Also, from that Paul Gale site, it says from one of SuperBot's member's twitter account, Sony's "Michael" commercial is also slightly hinting a game like this. Would be cool if this is true, cause there are a lot of characters that might work in the commercial for the game. That is if it's real for sure.
I think it is safe to say that sony has the depth and variety of characters to pull this off.
I think a game like this would be awesome! I hope they're making it to be honest…but my question is will it be cartoonish or more adult like. Also I hope they reach back to all of the PS exclusives…There are a few Final Fantasy guys that could due some damage with a HD upgrade. haha
we need some 3rd party characters to!
