We've said it before and we'll say it again (and again): don't ever underestimate the need for a great soundtrack in an epic, AAA video game.
Music drives things forward and keeps us involved, even if it's often on a borderline subconscious level. And if you appreciate the score in the recently released Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception , you'll want to get your hands on that gripping soundtrack.
Designed by composer Greg Edmonson, the music in Naughty Dog's latest masterpiece was "created to fit a wide variety of daring situations and subtle moods," and it's perfect for the cinematic feel of the game. As announced at the PlayStation Blog , you can now purchase the entire soundtrack for only $9.99.
If you'd rather have the physical copy, you can buy it at Best Buy, Barnes and Noble, and Fry's Electronics as of November 15. Further digital options include Amazon.com, Bestbuy.com, LaLaLandrecords.com, and iTunes. Lastly, an "exclusive 2CD Limited Edition version," which will be limited to 3,000 units and includes liner notes by Daniel Schweiger, can be purchased at LaLa Land Records.
But you know, all the Uncharted games had great music so if you're a true fan, you'll want all the soundtracks. Both full soundtracks from Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves are also available on the Store ($5.99 each) and next week, you'll be able to grab 'em both at the same time for only $9.99.
By the way, composer Edmonson is best known for composing the music for TV's "Firefly," and he's the winner of the Best Original Music award from the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts for his Uncharted 2 work.
