Check out the PlayStation Blog ; MLB 11: The Show ran a simulated series between the Texas Rangers and St. Louis Cardinals and as you can see, it's gonna be Texas in 6.
After the Cardinals took game one behind a great performance from their best pitcher, Chris Carpenter, the Rangers won Game 2. Then St. Louis stole back the momentum behind some hot hitting from Matt Holiday and Lance Berkman, before Texas went on a series-ending tear. The last two games were close but at the end of the day, Texas earns their very first WS title.
Now, scoff all you want, but MLB 10: The Show correctly predicted the World Series champion from last year: the San Francisco Giants. The game got the American League champion wrong (it predicted the Yankees would go down to the Giants), but the end result was right. So when given the two correct teams for the Series, don't you think the new MLB simulator can come through?
By the way, the game in question is pretty damn good .

for a 'team of destiny' i'm just proud the tigers were able to push them to six games while decimated by injuries.

oh whatever. texas was the better team on paper. all i said was i was proud of my team. they played with heart, and pushed your powerhouse team to six games. good luck… but not too much 😉
Only propblem with the Tigers (I am a Tigers fan) was they went to bat everytime trying to get the Home Run. As evidence I think they hit 12 home runs in the ALCS and all but 2 of them were solo.
Ugh, I wish I could believe it. I think St. Louis takes it all this year.
Sorry Cardinals fans, a bitter and devastated Phils fan can't help it 🙂
Halladay is my favorite baseball player of all time. He's hands down the best pitcher in the game right now.
As a Jays fan, I miss him, but I was really hoping he'd get a major league pennant this year.
At least if he had to lose, he lost to Chris Carpenter… another Blue Jays first round draft pick.
I would take Verlander in a game against Halladay anytime.
lol… yeah… no. Every professional knows Halladay is the best. The difference between the two is that Halladay is lights out year in and year out. His 3 Cy Youngs and playoff perfect game are a testament to that.
With his work ethic, incredibly high number of complete games, and lack of injuries prove he knows what he's doing.
But hey… feel free to take Verlander. I'll stick with Halladay with knowledge that I make better decisions.
This is the first year verlander posted an ERA under 3.00. Halladay has done it 7 times.
Verlander has 14 complete games, and 5 shutouts. Halladay has 66 complete games and 20 shutouts.
Halladay's career ERA is 0.32 points lower. And he has a higher innings pitched per game average.
Verlander's good. But there is no contest here.
Halladay is also 17 spots higher on the All Time Best Pitcher's rankings.

Halladay has two Cy Young's not three. His perfect game was in May so that's not the playoffs, he threw a no hitter in the playoffs. He's also been around longer, 13 seasons as opposed to 6, and on a better team so of course his stats are better then Verlander. Verlander won the pitching triple crown this year and will win his first Cy Young this year most likely.
Personally I don't really care about either one since they're not on the team I follow, but I'd gladly take either one if given the choice.
Verlander has appeared in 7 seasons. Not 6. And if you want to say it's only because he pitched 11 innings, fine. Halladay's first season only had 14 innings. So by those standards it's 12 and 6. Or 13 and 7. Not 13 and 7.
Halladay pitched all but 2 seasons with the Jays… How is that a better team than Detroit? (I'm a Jays fan)
Verlander would need to double his pace for many of the stats I listed to catch Halladay.
The site I referenced claimed he won a Cy in 2008. That is incorrect, as he was only the runner up.
Tell ya what… Let's go with when Halladay was Verlander's age… no… not age… Let's go with same number of years in the majors. (Halladay got the call a full year younger than Verlander)
I will remove the first year for both, as they were small, (although, to support my case, I should as Verlander's ERA over 11 innings was 7.15 as opposed to Halladays 1.93)
Halladay's first appearance was a complete game shut-out. Second was 1 run allowed over 5 innings. Verlander was chased early twice.
SO here we go. First 6 full seasons.
They both have 1 Cy Young.
The both have 1 full season under 3.00. Halladay is a 3.26 to Verlander's 3.62.
They both have 14 complete games, although Halladay had 1 more shutout. Verlander gave up 30 more home runs.
Bear in mind, Halladay took over the spotlight in Toronto from Roger Clemmens. Clemmens didn't like not being the best in Toronto anymore. lol
Oh… and the Tigers had a good enough team to make the playoffs twice. Halladay's first 6 years were with the Jays. Who saw none.
So that stuff about Halladay pitching for a better team? Bull-huckey and completely untrue. Verlander's great, but the best he has ever done in any stat category is tie Halladay. He has had 14 complete games in 6 seasons. In the next 6 seasons he will need 52.

Cards have been proving people wrong all year. Might as well keep it up and make it one more…
Texas will take it all the way. To much offense for the St. Louis fartnals to handle. Let's go Rangers!!!!!!
hmm… I actually think the Cards have a better offense. At least, they have the best complimented line-up, if not the best individuals. Texas has the better defense, though.
