It's the press release we've wanted to see ever since hearing the announcement.
Today, Namco Bandai Games America has announced that Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch will indeed launch in North America in 2012, exclusively for the PlayStation 3.
Developed by Level-5 ( Dragon Quest , Professor Layton ), this "unique fantasy RPG" has received plenty of attention in recent months. The team collaborated with legendary studio Ghibli for the character design and animations, and the music comes from Joe Hisaishi, composer of scores found in over 100 films. Said president and CEO of Level-5, Akihiro Hino:
"We are very honored to be working with the talented Studio Ghibli and Hisaishi-san on this game. It is very exciting for us to bring the best of Japanese anime and video game cultures together, and also to bring it to players in Europe and America. We hope you will enjoy it."
We'll follow the adventure of a young boy, Oliver, who sets out to become a master magician and resurrect his dead mother, who is now in the parallel world of Ni no Kuni. He'll meet all sorts of interesting characters, and he'll need their help if he wishes to take down the evil White Witch. Unfortunately, we don't have an exact release date, but this is good enough for now.
Related Game(s): Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch
hoping for japanese voices.
The game has all the promise, a combination between two companies who are at the top of their game. I cannot wait to see more on this. As for the title, not so sure on it, I might just refer it as 'Wrath Of The White Witch'.
One way or the other, this will be mine.
It'll be the other for me, but I'll get it too.
I can't remember where I read it and I could be mistaken but I thought I heard that the scenerio writer for the Final Fatasy games is leaving Square-enix and joining Level-5.
Regardless, this game looks great. I actually just watched a new trailer and I'm locked in for getting this one. Will post trailer link soon.
I posted that in the forums? The author of FF12, Tactics, Vagrant Story has indeed left Enix and joined Level 5 and is working on an all new lP!

Okay, that makes sense. Maybe they felt that Level-5 has a lot of pontential. I know a lot of critics weren't too taken by White Knight Chronicles' story. This can't be a bad thing to have new and experienced writers on board.
I will definitely support L5. They're really trying when it comes to JRPG's on the PS3 as well as localizing and thank the gods for that!
That sounds like a good thing for Final Fantasy, all the Ivalice titles felt so diconnected from the franchise, the Ivalice titles should have just been within their own franchise.
Yes! Yasumi Matsuno left Square-Enix to join Level-5 so he could have "have complete control over and final say in both their content and development".
It's official: Level-5 is the new Squaresoft. Congratulations, guys. You earned it.
The Ivalice of FFT is not the same Ivalice of FFXII.

Completely agree.
The Ivalice games are in the same world, but at drastically different times, so it feels very different each time you're there.
yes, but I mean, they aren't meant to be connected to each other. I'm not sure what is meant by the ivalice titles feeling disconnected from the FF franchise. I felt all of them were good additions to the FF universe.
Best news yet, eh!?
It'll come with the spell book in digital form or you can purchase it separately and obtain a unique code for some DLC that gives you controle of a mini red Dragon to take care of and use in battles!
Have you seen the new trailer!? Embed it! It's quite possibly the best RPG trailer i have seen this gen. Did you catch a glimpse at all them mini games, all them variations of gameplay? What about that monster manager?! Man, i am too excited!!!
Studio Ghibli did the story to this too so have hankies at the ready!
I didnt know the book could be purchased I would prefer to have the real thing. Trailers for this game are fantastic. Im hoping you can play the game with the japanese va and english subtitles.
Here's trailer.
wow…wow I cant stop smiling and I cant wait to get lost in this games world
First Devil May Cry HD is announced today and now this. Oh man, my wallet and free time are going down the drain come next year too. Just looks so good.
Posted the new trailer on the forums on the ps3 section.
I love that it that Ni No Kuni stayed in the title for western release and Im so looking forward to this game. For me this game will more than make up for WKC.

I hear a pre-order calling my name, only it mispronounced it, but I'm getting it anyway.
Is this turn based?
The closest you're gonna get to it in a mainstream release. It's active turned based, but you can pause the action at times, to make a decision.
They better advertise this properly, on the surface this actually look like a game for kids.
Not that that's a bad thing in anyway, but i know what you are saying.
Looks great and yeah, the animations have something to do with it.
Namco Bandai did a great job advertising Dark Souls, so I have faith that they will make Ni no Kuni appealing to those unfamiliar gamers.
I too hope for Japanese dub and English subs, but the game will be amazing for sure.
WHOA!
I've never done well with true RPG's, but damn, even I can see why all you guys(and/or gals) are excited for this game.
It will be mine someday, at least for collection purposes….and who knows after sampling it, there's always hope for me yet & maybe it can become the 1st real RPG I can get into.
