The saga may be big news, but it also appears to be very much over. Following reports that neither Nintendo or Sony would bring an AO-rated game to their consoles, Take-Two Interactive has announced that Manhunt 2 won't make its July ship date, and has been "temporarily suspended." However, the publisher isn't giving up hope on the controversial title.
"We continue to stand behind this extraordinary game. We believe in freedom of creative expression, as well as responsible marketing, both of which are essential to our business of making great entertainment."
They can stand on their soapbox all they want, but unless they edit the game down to an M-rating, this project will remain a no-go. Or, they can change their platform to the PC without editing the game, but AO-rated games have historically sold terribly, anyway. In the end, if they want a return on their investment, Take-Two had better get to editing, and hope gamers will respond favorably.
