We all know that a product's success lies in its promotion and advertising, and the inclusion of star power is always a huge benefit.
A few days ago, we reported on HMV's Final Fantasy XII opening day extras for London gamers. And now, Square-Enix is adding their own dose of promotional flash by hiring Patrick Stewart to voice the game's ads, scheduled to be shown in Europe and Australia. Stewart is not one of the in-game voice actors (although that cast was amazing on its own), but he received Spike TV's "Best Performance by a Human (Male)" for his voiceover work in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion . He's also on tap to lend his finely trained and easily recognizable voice to the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, due out next month.
The more big game publishers work to nail down such celebrities to push their products, the more those games will sell. What, you don't think that approach works? Of course it works…not that we think Final Fantasy XII needs any help selling. The game launches in PAL territories on February 23; the ads will kick off four days earlier.
