Japan Top Sales December 6 – 12

Well, the latest Media Create numbers are in (tracking Japanese weekly game sales) for the week spanning December 6 through December 12, which means we've got a glimpse into how the PSP is doing during its launch.

The Sony PSP handheld was released on December 12, so the numbers in the hardware and software list actually reflect one day 's worth of sales. Not bad… but not spectacular. Of course, blame rests on Sony for short-shipping the unit intentionally, and not on consumers who are snapping the things up like free cookies.

Continued props to Square-Enix's Dragon Warrior XIII, which has taken the top spot for three weeks now and has sold 2.8 million copies, while retailing for the astronomical price of 8,800 yen (US$95).
