Capcom Ships Two

Capcom has announced the release of two titles for the PlayStation 2: Viewtiful Joe 2 and Mega Man X8, just in time for the holiday season.

VJ2, like the original, is set in a cel-shaded, comic book movie realm. Players will control Joe, who now has a new "replay" VFX power, as well as Joe's girlfriend Silvia. Unlike Joe, Silvia wields a gun to defeat her enemies. The 2D/3D hybrid action takes place over more diverse stages this time, such as the jungle, underground ruins, ancient Japan, snowy mountains and outer space. Players will also encounter 40 new enemy types along the way.

In Mega Man X8, the famous Blue Bomber must travel to the moon to save mankind from Sigma and an army of corrupted robots called Reploids. The game features two other playable characters—Zero and Axl—each with distinctive abilities. The Mega Man franchise has sold more than 20 million copies since it debuted on the NES in 1987.

Viewtiful Joe 2 is rated "T" (Teen), while Mega Man X8 is rated "E" (Everyone)—both retail for $39.99.
