Good news for RPG fanatics. Midway just sent along a note saying that Shadow Hearts: Covenant (a.k.a. Shadow Hears 2), the sequel to the critically acclaimed role-playing game released in 2001, has shipped to retail outlets nationwide.
Shadow Hearts: Covenant is a deep, engaging RPG that is set amidst the chaos of World War I, six months after the original Shadow Hearts ended. The main characters are Yuri and Karin, who are on a mission to conquer a secret society that is taking advantage of the war to fulfill their evil ambitions. The combat system allows players to choose which characters to bring to battle and features new team-based combo attacks and defensive formations. Attacks can be stacked to strengthen their effects.
Also featured in Covenant is an inventive magic system where players must build skill sets, strategize gameplay moves, and earn and cast spells with a team of complex characters–each with distinct personalities, attributes, and magical abilities.
The epic adventure fills 2 DVDs with over 40 hours of intense gameplay.
Shadow Hearts 2: Covenant retails for $49.99 and some people have reported already seeing it on store shelves over this past weekend.
