Sony Set to Announce ICO Sequel

There's no eloquent way to break this news, so we'll just spill it…

Clever individuals have decoded a Flash countdown on the Sony of Japan web site and have discovered that the company intends to announce the impending release of Nico — the long awaited sequel to 2001's Ico. The official announcement is set to come down on September 10th.

Ico blew people away with its gorgeous castle / island visuals and its Tomb Raider-esque gameplay, but the relatively brief length of the game left many PS2 owners clamoring for a follow-up. Looks like that wish is coming true.

Obviously, Japan will get the game first, and a US release is contingent upon SCEA feeling that there's enough demand for the game.
