As a result of consumer feedback, Battlefield: Modern Combat, the upcoming
console title from Electronic Arts and Digital Illusions, will feature an
offline single player mode in addition to its online, multiplayer feature
element.
"Adding more time to the development cycle of the game will result in a more
expansive feature set and a more compelling product," commented Greg Richardson,
general manager of EA Partners. "We are confident that this decision will result
in a stronger title and continue the advancement of the Battlefield brand."
The game is has now been delayed an entire year for both the PlayStation 2
and Xbox, as it will be released in the fall of 2005, rather than the planned
fall of 2004 date that had been announced. The game’s online mode will support
up to 24 players per game, on both platforms.
