Phantom Brave Confirmed for North American Release

A few weeks back, Nippon Ichi opened a branch in California. At the time, it was speculated that this would result in many more domestic Nippon Ichi titles. This was confirmed today, as the creators of Disgaea and La Pucelle announced they plan to bring Phantom Brave, the follow-up to Disgaea, to the shores of North America.

"Phantom Brave improves upon the tactical gameplay found in Disgaea and La Pucelle in every way. Its redone, open-ended battle system is limited only by the user's imagination," commented Akibo Shieh, Project Lead at Atlus. "If you fell in love with Disgaea, you definitely won't want to miss out on what's sure to be this year's best Strategy RPG."

Phantom Brave is set in the same universe as Disgaea, and follows a girl named Morona who lives on an island. She is able to manipulate spirits, and therein lays the basic premise of the game. What has many excited is the fact that Brave's battle system is now free roaming, as the restrictive grids have been removed. Character customization and gameplay have also been given new features, which add to their (already impressive) depth.

Phantom Brave is set to be self-published by Nippon Ichi, and will be distributed by Atlus. Scheduled to be released this fall, the title will also be on display at the upcoming E3.
