In a conference call, EA announced they plan to support Sony's PSP with an expected four to six titles due by the end of March 2005. The system is currently slated for launch in the first quarter of 2005, with no further details at this time.
"PSP could change the handheld market significantly," EA's CFO Warren Jenson said. While EA doesn't expect much revenue from PSP software in 2005, they expect the it to constitute a significant amount of revenue for the following two fiscal years.
Obviously, EA has a large degree of faith in the PSP. EA's support for the PlayStation 2 during its early days was extremely influential, and their commitment to the PSP shows that the handheld will have some quality titles shortly following launch. We'll have more details when Sony shows the PSP at E3.
