Encore today announced they will be publishing Heroes of the Pacific, a World War II flight combat game. Featuring over 30 missions, the title begins as the Japanese attack Pearl Harbor. As the game moves through its engrossing storyline featuring rich character development, players will participate in the battles of Midway, the Coral Sea, Wake Island, Iwo Jima and Guadalcanal. Furthermore, players will be able to choose from over 25 actual World War II aircraft, including the Japanese Zero. Impressively, each plane is made up of 15,000 – 30,000 polygons with lighting effects further detailing the models. In addition, the game is said to allow up to 300 planes on-screen at the same time. Players will also control up to 32 wingman, a surprisingly large number. The system for commanding wingman is said to be innovative with fast-access.
Heroes of the Pacific also features split screen and online multiplayer. Multiplayer modes include dogfight, team dogfight, capture the flag, cooperative missions, and fox and hounds, which is a competition to see who can hold onto the flag the longest. There are no details regarding the amount of players supported in multiplayer at this time.
