E3 2004: PS2 Price Drop and Sales

Effective immediately, Sony has dropped the price of the PS2 to $149.99 nationwide. Both PS2 SKUs (stand alone console and network adapter bundled console) have received a price drop. With the recent price drop of the Xbox, Sony's price drop doesn't come all too surprising. At the moment, shipments of the PS2 have surpassed 70 million, leaving the two rival consoles far behind than anyone thought. Software shipments have toppled 1.5 billion units worldwide.
