The PlayStation Vita could really use some top-notch AAA software, and perhaps the biggest name on the horizon is Killzone: Mercenary .
We know Killzone: Shadow Fall is going to be a launch title for the PlayStation 4, and we also know that Sony's new console already has plenty of support.
But the Vita has seemingly little in the way of support these days, so a fantastic shooter like Mercenary might help to invigorate sales. Here's some new gameplay footage taken from testers; you can see the game in action on both the Vita and big screen. There's no doubt that Sony's handheld is quite the capable device, and this could end up being the most technically proficient portable title ever seen. That alone could be enough to bolster interest. Let's just hope Sony actually promotes this one…

Wow, the Vita is really a nice little system. That looks truly amazing. So fluid and fast and I cannot wait to see what MP modes they offer. This is going to be quite the fall of Killzone! Killzone Mercenary and Killzone Shadow Fall! I couldn't be happier.
Can the vita be connected to a tv? Or is that a developer thing?
Either way, I think I'll be getting this game day on! I love my vita and can't wait for more games to come out! I was surprised how often I find myself playing games on it instead of my ps3.
That's a dev kit thing. However, the new Vita model does have and HDMI output.
There's a new model?
Day 1 baby! I can't wait for this!
The dual-analog-stick portable shooter we've all been crying for (not to mention Killzone is my personal FPS favorite).
I wonder if they'll have some sort of cross-platform features with the PS4 KZ title? It would make sense since they're being released within months of each other…
I am complete agreement with you. Killzone my second favorite FPS. Half-Life and DOOM are tied for #1.

Full screen on TV? Do we have that capability?
Thats what I am wondering too!
I believe the next Vita will have a HDMI port.

Beamboom is correct
That makes it much more attractive to me, it would be even better if the PS4 controller worked with it so it was like a little JRPG console for me. (I'm hoping the genre survives onto Vita)
Haha – that was actually quite the idea, World. It's easily done from a technical point of view, it's just a bit the other way around from how one usually thinks. But I like the idea!
I'm sure nobody will listen to me, it's just too good an idea.
Looking forward to this one. I still think Resistance Burning Skies got an unfair rap. Have enjoyed playing through the campaign a couple of times. The multiplayer is a good way to kill a few hours. Good first attempt at a dual stick FPS.
Killzone Merc looks like quality though. D1P.
Is kill zone really defined as a AAA title? I myself have never really thought of it being a console seller. I may not even be into the FPS genre but when I do think of the genre there are many titles which stand out ahead.
Killzone games are definitely AAA quality in presentation. I think people will buy a vita to play killzone it may not sell 100,000 vita, but even if one person buys a vita for it that would make it a console seller.
Nice! This is going to be splendid! Lets hope the ending is a little more well done than KZ3. Think I might be looking forward to this more than Shadow Fall.
Oh that Image of the ff7 save point flooded back so much nostalgia :p
Thanks. I'm still trying to make it smaller though.
Aw man is that a new vita model or just the dev/test model?? It has an additional connector thing on the bottom. This game looks great!!! This convinced me to pre-order it right now. 🙂
+1 more Vita love.
I hope Sony uses that port on Vita that hasn't gotten any use yet to connect to a TV. I really don't understand why this wasn't done day one. I don't understand why companies wouldn't include something that would make their product better thus increasing sales.
I love that there plugged into the big screen yet there still looking at the vita screen lol.
I think they are trying to watch what to touch in the small screen (reloading, melee and so on), still funny tough 🙂
Having a tech-forward reputation I suspect the game will be met with mixed enthusiasm. That is, it's unlikely the game will achieve the technical bar set by its predecessors so it may feel like a nice aside to the Killzone universe but not a defining part of the franchises's existence. I'm hoping it pulls in an average in the 80's. that'll be good enough for me.
this demonstrates whats wrong with the vita, PERFECTLY!
this is the only game announced for the vita im interested in, and its a killzone game, something we have had 4 of in the space of what 6 years?
1, liberation, 2, 3, this, and lets not forget the newly announced ps4 title.
so THE reason to own a vita, is a game that has been released on the ps3, psp, and will be released on the ps4?
how sad!
This and gta 5 are day 1 purchases for me
Already have it pre-ordered, and as soon as we're allowed to do so I'll be pre-ordering a PS4 and Killzone: Shadow Fall as well. The end of this year is going to be a great time for Killzone fans.
