Ben-DutkaSony has kicked off their PlayStation Meeting 2013 and they've already mentioned their slick portable, the PlayStation Vita. Predictable?
They were pretty vague but Sony boss Andrew House did say they will "continue to unlock the system's potential" as time goes on. Basically, they're looking to make the Vita a big part of the living room entertainment experience.
They say the core processing power of the unit is capable of that, and they will keep working toward delivering better experiences to core and casual gamers everywhere. The only question is whether or not the mainstream consumer will respond; perhaps Sony will make strides in making the Vita appeal to more with PS3/PS4 connectivity. The company has no interest in putting their handheld on the back burner and hence, they're going to keep pushing it. The only question is- How, exactly? We're not sure how that'll happen.
Guess we'll find out.
Being able to play PS4 games remotely will be sort of amazing.
Knew local remote play on the Vita was always possible as youtube has examples of people playing various SP PS3 games (running custom firmware) on their Vita.
The PS3 games on the Vita (Remote Play) weren't bad, but there was definitely a noticeable lag. I have a good feeling with the power of the Vita and a Next-Gen PS3 (PS4) being combine with an "built in" feature with emphasis vs an "after thought"
to be fair, that's because the remote play on the Vita is running inside the PSP emulator on custom firmware also running inside the PSP emulation. A native remote play solution should be far, far better performance wise.
And you're saying that will be the case with the PS34 eh? Thats what I want to hear! I'm wondering how Gaikai will come into play if the hardware for the Vita is out…?
