PSXE Poll Update: Vita Owners Say, “Hey, I Love This Thing!’

Sales for the PlayStation Vita haven't been particularly brisk and Sony definitely hopes to see a significant increase this holiday season.

And although many say they don't see enough reasons to own the new portable, those who do own it don't seem disappointed in their purchase. According to our latest poll, the majority of participants said they not only don't regret getting the Vita, they really love the slick little unit.

Of course, this may only prove the theory that essentially hardcore gamers are only interested in the Vita, and that group isn't enough to make it a big runaway smash. These days, with the competition being the casual gaming market in the smartphone and tablet arenas, the Vita is a tough sell for those who aren't dedicated followers of the hobby. However, as always, great software can lead the upward charge. This fall, we've got Assassin's Creed: Liberation , Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified , the already available LittleBigPlanet , Spy Hunter , etc. So all of that should help a great deal. Well, ideally, at least.

This week, we want your thoughts on the recently released Dishonored , which we say is an easy Game of the Year contender. Most other major sources would agree as well, but what do you say? Did it go above and beyond your expectations? Or are you strangely unfulfilled?

There just isn't much at all I want this Holiday season, which is probably a good thing. I can save my cash and work on the backlog. I hope Vita gets its boost though.

Dishonored has been a great experience; you know it's a good game when it's what you think about while not playing. The only thing that hasn't lived up to my expectations is that I expected the world to just… pop a bit more than it does. Bioshock was in your face with its atmosphere, Dishonored is more subtle. There isn't as much punk in the steampunk but you can't say it isn't a very detailed and lovingly created world. There's a lot left for Arkane to explore if they want to make it a franchise.

i honestly love my vita. it has come in handy a lot of times. i dont like haveing smart phones so the vita does the things my crap phone doesnt do. ill be honest that i dont have a lot of games for it yet but i will in a few months. come tax time next year i will have a nice assortment of games to choose from. plus will start giving me games in november and i hope it is games i dont have.

dishonored is WAAAY better than i thought it would be. i kept reading the previews and wasnt sure about the game. kind of thought it might flop or not be as good as they claimed. after seeing the review and then renting it i am now adding it to my must buy list. i might not get to it for a while but it will be a part of my collection.

I love it. If only that FF: Type O would release for it now.

If it did lots of people would have reason to buy it, but SE is so slow and lame with everything now.

thats not exactly surprising, where are we?
as ive said a million times vita really needs $onys full force behind it.
and that is exactly why its had such a slow start, they had the right franchises, but most are made by unheard of or even crap developers.
handing over resistance and COD to nhillistic is like saying to kia hey your famous for making cheap pieces of unreliable sh*t, were going to let you make the replacement to the ferrari enzo.
right.
big names need big names behind them!
only now is $ony FINALLY starting to get their in house big studios working on the vita, its very encouraging to see GG working on KZ mercenaries so i hope to see more of that.
the whole push with the vita, its whole purpose, is to deliver console like experience on the go.
and that is exactly why its been a massive flop, because maybe 1% of the games released for it so far have done so!

$ony REALLY needs to do a revision already, or add features in a OS update.
we need the TV functionality back, we need the PSP GOs feature of pausing one game and continuing with another feature back, we need internet AND game at the same time support.
you know, things a device HALF the vitas price can do!
removeable battery would be nice too, whole point of the vita is to be PORTABLE!
i dont consider a 3 hour device to be portable.
whole point of things like this is to use on long journeys, which you cant because cars, planes, dont have power points built into them so you can only use the device for 3 or so hours kinda defeats the purpose.

thats exactly the problem with the vita, you would forgive the low quality games, you would forgive the lack of games, you would forgive the pain in the a$$ restrictions, if it had some redeeming factors!
but it doesent, its con, con, con, con, con.
no pros.
vita seriously feels like a rush job, like they wanted to do oh so much with it but couldent because lets be honest the ps3 has cost $ony the bank!
bits of plastic scrambled together from the back of a closed factories dumpster, rather than a device built from the ground up in the 21st century to really amaze and blow people away!

as for dishonoured, its basically like every game this gen.
good, but nowhere near as good as its been hyped up to be!
just like every other game that promises changing stories, varying gameplay letting you play how you want.
these types of games always feel like they have been designed how the developer wants, than some guy has come in late on fridays and put in the other way.
theres always a very strong focus to one way, one way is set so easy and well equiped where the other is given a screwdriver and is nigh on impossible.
sad, it had oh so much potential!
and as i said before, i expected much, much, MUCH more from the guys involved with the original bioshock and deus ex!

You sir, love being hated period!

3 hours, I recently had many, many 4.5 – 5 hour Uncharted Golden Abyss sessions so explain how the most graphically intensive game can last 5 hours on my Vita? Maybe look at your visual settings and tweak them?

I really believe you love the hate you receive. Every post is like a hate fest for what everyone on this site loves. You know you're puking poisonous vomit and wait with anticipation to all the hateful replies you will receive. There is no other explanation for your endless depression. You sir need some medication to help deal with life. I for one hope you find the help you need. I don't like seeing people suffer like you are. If you were my friend I would definitely have a intervention waiting for you the next time you meet up with me. Take it easy _________ I am now very concerned for your well being.

Oh good grief, I know that Ben is reluctant to ban people, but if ever there was a candidate for being banned based on the irrational provocation and hatred spewing forth from their comments it's you. I mean, seriously, who peed in your cornflakes this morning…and every other morning?

I already destroyed your other post today, I can't be bothered to address another opus of irrational garbage. Kindly cease.

I knew a guy who randomly exploded on the internet. Very uncharacteristic of… well… most people. Turned out… he had a minor brain aneurysm. Apparently, whenever it bled on his brain, he responded much like you respond on this site. Once that was fixed and he got put on meds, he returned to being a rational, and even likeable guy.

Australia has public health care. Go use it. For all our sakes.

The Vita has barely been out 8 months, so why all the Vita-bashing Mr Underline. It's the best handheld gaming console ever. I agree with other peeps posting here, as I've tried some large sized graphic intensive tablet games with on-screen touch controls… so annoying! I sincerely hope the Vita gets promoted like hotcakes this Xmas. It deserves to be in the hands of serious and casual gamers alike and makes an excellent hi-tech gift that's a total bargain for the price!

Past wednesday I travel from Mexico to Peru in a 6 hours flight playing Rayman Origins, and traveled back on satuday playing Hot Shots Golf, so i just played like 11 hours with the same battery charge; it seems to me like that battery can give you more than those 3 hours my friend.

So far I love my Vita. I can get 4-5 hours out of it playing Uncharted and other graphically intense games, if I turn the screen brightness way up (unnecessary since the screen is already ridiculously bright and clear in most lighting), and bang the volume way up I might cut that to 3 hours – if I ran the Wifi all the time too.

I find it lasts anything up to 6 hours depending on use. I've been playing Valkyria Chronicles 2 on mine and love it, I was also playing Mana Khemia 2 for many, many hours, and again got great battery life. It plays all the PSP titles I bought on PSN so far, although my PS1 collection is not so well supported.

Other than that, the hardware is excellent, the software is great, the games are extremely good and PSP games work just fine. The 32GB memory card was expensive, but then it is 32GB and I doubt I'll ever need another. All in all, this is by far the best hand held gaming device I've used, and I include DS, PSP, Android phones, iPhone and tablets in that statement. Someone once tried to convince me of how great games on their tablet were. They showed me this good looking first person shooter. The controls were on the screen of course and were laggy and difficult to use. Plus my hands kept obscuring parts of the screen I really wanted to see. All in all not much fun. Action games on Vita have no such deficiency, and that should be enough to make anyone see the reason for Vita.

Everyone I've spoken to or heard from (except for the insane and anonymous cowhered – aka Mr Underline) who actually own a Vita are very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone. Most also recommend the largest memory card.

Agreed on all points! It's going to be great to get PS+ Vita next month as well. It will be great to backup those saved games to the cloud so that you can delete a game you are no longer playing without losing everything. I have the Platinum for Uncharted GA and won't be playing that anytime soon so it would be great to be able to delete it without losing my Crushing difficulty.

I'd get a vita if they had Borderlands on it with "cross play" (is that the proper term?). I can't get enough of that game!

I'd say the Vita has had one of the best first years a new system ever has software wise. I've bought 7 games at retail and an 8th is on the way when AC Liberation launches later this month. I also feel it's the perfect machine for some PSN games like Retro City Rampage. I'm more than happy with the system and look forward to the first party stuff lined up for next year, I just hope they can get it selling better so third parties will jump on board in greater numbers. I'd love a Resident Evil or Metal Gear Solid game made specifically for the Vita.
