Report: Destiny 2 Won’t Make It This Year

Last September, some leaked court documents told us to expect a new disc-based Destiny game "every year through 2019."

Well, either Bungie is backing off from the original plan or there was some mistake.

That's because according to Kotaku , a true sequel won't make that projected September 2016 launch date. Kotaku cited sources "familiar with goings-on at the studio" and those sources claim that development plans for the game "are constantly in flux." Recently and most notably, Bungie ruled out the possibility of releasing Destiny 2 this September. Bear in mind that the 2015 court documents were based on the fact that Destiny would originally launch in 2013, which didn't happen; it was delayed to late 2014.

So, maybe that's why the sequel won't show up this year. A lot changed in the development process for the original; don't forget that Bungie claimed it would have a "rich narrative." Yeah, well, that didn't happen, did it? We did, however, get some pretty great expansions, including the gigantic one in late 2015, The Taken King .

But it does seem like we'll have to wait for a full-fledged sequel.

"Gigantic"? I wouldn't call it that at all.

Regardless, this is good news considering. I want them to deliver on the premise they promised. It's to early for them to fulfill that. If Destiny 2 is Destiny 1.5 I want nothing to do with it.

I want the large mmo type open world they claimed the game would have, I want the strong narrative – relatively speaking of course – and I want a loot system that doesn't require you to have 6 people available to do the raids 100,000 times.

With all the big games that are due to release this year, how many of you are/were waiting for Destiny 2 this year?

Heck, there was an article on The Verge today that stated this is the best time to quit Destiny since they're not going to release anything bigger and/or better than the Taken King.

Yeah, I don't want to say I've quit Destiny entirely, but… after finishing the Taken King raid, I feel I'm pretty much complete, in terms of my accomplishments in this game.
I did satisfy all the requirements to get the Year 1 special emblem, which I'm proud of. =)

Now that I've been off Destiny for 2 months, I've been able to finish AC: Unity and The Order 1886.
My backlog is huge and have many more games to finish…

You're not getting my $60 Bungie! Give us a Borderlands 3. 2kgames will get my $60. That's what I was fooled into thinking Destany 1 was for some reason.

Because that's what everyone compared it to. Its also what Bungie described. We were all fooled. We were all beta testers for a new type of content add ons and we all took the bait.

I'll take Borderlands over Destiny any day.
