"What's your favorite video game of all time?" is a question that has been asked countless times.
But after years of downloadable content and expansions, perhaps it's long past time to ask the follow-up question: "Whats you're favorite DLC of all time?"
There's a lot to choose from, certainly, though I bet some older gamers will go all the way back to the late '90s when certain PC expansions were just huge. I just loved the expansions for Heroes of Might & Magic , for example. But as the concept of new content delivered after launch has reached the console world as well, DLC is definitely worthy of a "best of" discussion. So, what extra content tops the list for you?
I probably can't participate as I rarely bother with DLC or expansions. I suppose the Left Behind DLC for The Last Of Us is probably my favorite but I'm definitely loving the Hearts of Stone expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt . Oh, and I liked the Battle of Forli expansion for one of the Assassin's Creed titles (forget which one). As you can see, I pretty much only bother with single-player DLC, so that's why I don't buy much. 😉
Left Behind and The Evil Within's Kidman episodes were both DLC done right. Any DLC that involves cutting out endings or cutscenes from games only to be purchased separately to fatten out the experience is just complete rubbish.
The Last of Us: Left Behind, because while not a necessary addition to the main story, the impact it had was extremely profound and offered a very intriguing look into to who Ellie is.
Haven't played Witcher 3's Hearts of Stone but it also look very promising
Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare. It's easily one of the better thought out and fun experiences. Add the value and gameplay and it equals a win!
Lair of the Shadow Broker. No, Old World Blues. No, Citadel. No, The Shivering Isles. No, DA Awakening. Do old style expansions count? Like Lord of Destruction? Or re-release additions like Dark Arisen? AUGH I CAN'T CHOOSE!
Old World Blues was surprisingly fun and almost Fallout-like as opposed to its main game.
L.A Noire!! I truly loved that game.. GTA IV dlc & Burnout Paradise were fantastic as well.
Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare or Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City were great and one of the few dlc worth buying.
the taken king…
im serious…fabulous and well worth the cost…if it didnt have the other two on disc then defo the last of us would be it..
Left behind defo!
The best dlc of all time for me was from Kingdoms of Amalur. These dlc's were like complete new games and had outstanding story lines to them. I feel this game was one of the most underrated games of the ps3. I think even now you have to pay 5 bucks for the dlc. They were 15 bucks when they first came out. Had I known how good they were I would have gladly paid 20.
Half Life: Opposing Force
I always enjoyed unlocking the levels in tony hawk pro skater… oh wait…
Kidding, in all honesty though, i thought some of the Fallout 3 DLC's were really good. Burnout paradises's DLC was brilliant too. RDR: undead nightmare was one of my favorite. I enjoyed Battlefield 3's DLC as well. But tbh, i've always kinda avoided DLC… I understand it costs money to make games, but i don't know if i agree with DLC or not.
Whatever makes the heroine look the closest to naked.
I have to agree that SP dlc is always more enjoyable for me. A lot of good examples have been given already, Rock* has been very good about delivering great SP DLC. Left behind was great too.
I'm not going to forget Burnout Paradise and the two, free, game changing updates they gave which had both on- and off-line content. For paid content, Big Surf Island, was great, again for on- and off-line gameplay.
Left Behind was excellent.
The Battle of Forli DLC is from Assassin's Creed 2 🙂
Fallout New Vegas's Lonesome Road
Fallout 3 and Fallout:Las Vegas DLCs were great! Also i should mention GTAIVs DLC as very good ones too.
