Seasons After Fall: Play as a Hand Painted Fox

I’m a sucker for pretty games. I love games that have an artistic quality to them. Give me some beautiful visuals and add a beautiful orchestra and I’m all over it. That doesn’t always mean it’s a good game but it’s a good start.

Seasons After Fall definitely falls in this category. And judging from the general reaction on Steam it looks like a pretty good game too. Seasons After Fall does sport beautiful hand painted artwork that takes place in a fantastical forest. This is accompanied by a string orchestra that seems to bring the world to life.

You play as a fox and it is up to you to bring the forest back to it’s former glory in this 2D puzzle platformer. The main gameplay mechanic used to solve the puzzles in Seasons After Fall is that you change the seasons to effect the environment. For example, if you come across some water you can turn it winter to freeze the water so that you can cross easier (this is shown in the video below). You can turn it into spring to add more water or turn it into summer to grow plants.

I’m interested to see how complex this gets as the game progresses. I can imagine some uses but I hope the puzzles will get more creative as you play the game. Plus, it will be neat to see the environment change at the push of a button.

Seasons After Fall is coming to PS4 on May 16th and I will most likely be picking it up. At the very least it will be easy on the eyes and ears.

What do you think of Seasons After Fall? Does it look like a promising addition to the Playstation library? Have you played it on Steam?
