Currently, you can't play PS2 classics on your PlayStation 4.
You can download and enjoy certain PS2 titles on the PS3 but at this point, that functionality doesn't exist on Sony's latest console.
However, might that change in the near future? As spotted by GameSpot , the European game ratings board, PEGI , has rated Twisted Metal: Black , Ape Escape 2 and Dark Chronicle for PS4. For the record, Sony hasn't made anything official concerning PS2 classics showing up on PS4, so don't get too excited yet.
Man, those games were awesome, though. It'd be nice to have at least some backward compatibility on PS4. And these three titles would be a good start, although there are about a hundred others I could see playing again, even on the fancy new system. Which PS2 classics would you want to see?
I think all the PS2 classics and more and PS1 classics have to be available on PS4. The business plan is to keep them on "Playstation Now" so people are forced to use that rental store if they don't keep their PS3 in shape and hooked up.

This is one area where I believe MS is doing a far better job than Sony. Sony has such an impressive selection of titles from its previous 3 generations of consoles. It's a shame the process in which they make these titles available is such a mess.
amen, its one spot where the plan isn't something the audience is willing to embrace since they already bought all this stuff last time.
Ah yes Twisted Metal Black. The last TM with genuine in game cheat codes.
That reminds me I never checked out the ps3 Twisted Metal.
I was never very good at them, always had to use the invincibility cheats to get past Minion, but I loved the characters' cut scenes in TM Black.
As for other ps2 classics, FF12 maybe?
If FFXII is made available I suggest waiting for the HD Remaster. It's going to happen and you'll be glad you did.
As long as it isn't some stupid ass remake, bring it on, twisted metal was a great series i also haven't tried the ps3 version yet myself but my favourite will always be twisted metal 2, the hours put into that coop mode was ridiculous
The world needs Ape Escape.
no i dont
Wow I would love to have a go at Twisted Metal: Black. My favorite vehicle was Roadkill, I used to know everything about every arena in that game.
