New Powerhouse Unleashes In Tekken 7

New fighters are the lifeblood of any fighter, right?

Sure, Tekken 7 will feature most (if not all) of the franchise favorites, but fans really want to see more new faces.

Well, here's one: Gigas. Bandai Namco has released a new trailer featuring the newcomer and he's quite the beast. Interestingly, many have noted that he looks a lot like the Batman villain Bane. Well, perhaps Bane was an inspiration for Gigas. Either way, this guy is a definite powerhouse and one that may appeal to people with aggressive fighting styles.

Gigas will debut in Japanese arcades on April 28. As for when Tekken 7 launches for PlayStation 4 in the US, that remains to be seen.

I love Tekken i really do but some of these new character designs look absolute garbage. "Gigas"? Come on lads.

And where is Yoshimitsu, Nina and Lee?

That's how I have felt ever since Tekken 4 where Steve was probably the last decent new character. Since then it has just been nonsense after nonsense with characters like Alisa, Lilli, Bob, Zanfia… none of them have any decent/ fair fighting styles or presence. I still regard Tekken3/Tag Torunament 1 as Tekken at it's peak. Though Tekken 2 still has the most stylish Intro.

Now THAT is some "Gantz" type shiz. One of the coolest mangas ever to marvel at.

The body type and fighting style reminds me of Marduk. I am hoping that Marduk has something to do with Gigas otherwise it just means that this "new" character is just re-used animations and a lightly to moderately tweaked moveset.

Yep. Looks like a Marduk variant in play.

Definetly a American style comic book look to him.

I just wish this game looked more impressive to me. And this whole arcade first exposure feels anticlimactic.

It seems okay but here's hoping Virtua Fighter comes back soon in a big way.

Virtua Fighter is my favourite 3D fighter so I'm with you on wanting a comeback. I guess Soul Calibur is up there to but SC5 was kind of meh for me.

I think King of Fighters 13 might be my favourite fighter period though, that game has so much depth. Watching the Evo fights something insane happens every year.

Yea, VF is my fav 3D fighter too.
But I could never get into SC competitively. I've tried so many times too.

From what I've played of KoF13 I have to say I was quite impressed. I loved how technical it was.

but the biggest problem I have now with fighters is that few are compatible with my gaming habits of today. When I log on at night the smaller competitive fighters are just dead. Like DOA5 LR is a ghost town at the time I play. It just makes the game pointless without the competition. And it bothers me when they split the pool of competitive players on platforms. For example, when DOA5 Ultimate didn't update the Vita version, even though it was cross-platform play, the user base totally died on Vita because all the PS3 gamers moved on to the new version. Similarly with DOA5 LR, there's those playing it on PS3 and those playing it on PS4.
Sadly I feel like the only fighting games I can default too have to be SF and Tekken. Not that I don't like them. I do. But sometimes I want to branch out.

As a long time Tekken fan, I don't care for new characters. I just care for interactive and character-specific story mode.
