What’s Behind That Closed Door In Bloodborne? Uh…Nothing?

For a while now, Bloodborne fans have been wondering about a certain closed door.

This door in the Cathedral Ward says "closed," not "locked" or "does not open from this side." Nobody has been able to figure it out until now; check the video below.

The door actually links back to the end of the Great Bridge, where you fight the Cleric Beast. The discovery was made by lodging a few Shining Coins in the mystery door; you still can't get in there but you can see where it goes. So, why does this fake shortcut exist at all? What's the deal? Is it simply to toy with our brains?

Eurogamer theorizes that it's just another prank pulled by developer From Software. Game Director Hidetaka Miyazaki pulled a similar stunt in Dark Souls where a player was asked to choose a gift at the game's opening. One item was a pendant that had "no effect, but fond memories comfort travelers." Eventually, we found out the pendant really was useless.

So, maybe Miyazaki did it again. …ha ha.

Initially the pendant was useless until the dlc released so not sure if that's a good example. Just my 2 cents

So they finally sent the update for the horrendous load times and it's fantastic, the now have a quick description of items as opposed to the Bloodborne logo, and now it only takes about 15 to 20 seconds after death.

I'm excited to try it out.
The Digital Foundry guys over at Eurogamer have a detailed comparison of times.

The thing that piqued my interest is the additional testing boost from a SSD Hybrid drive.

I jumped over to Newegg to see what the price was for a 1TB SSD Hybrid and I was surprised to find that they're way cheap at only $79.
Having double the storage and a load time boost to all games would be quite nice.

I notice also the biggest boosts come from respawning. That's great because that's when it seems most noticeable, like when right after being killed.
