God Of War III Remastered Coming To PlayStation 4 In July

It remains one of the best action games ever made, regardless of how you may feel about this ongoing string of remasters.

Sony has announced that a remastered version of the 2010 award-winner God of War III is headed to PlayStation 4. It will launch on July 14 for the agreeable price of $40.

The updated installment will boast 1080p visuals, a sizzling 60 frames per second, and we get a brand new trailer that shows off the updated atmosphere. Fans will also get the benefit of a new Photo Mode. Lastly, during Sony Santa Monica's live-stream event, they unveiled some really cool never-before-seen art for the franchise; see some of it here .

Hard to get much better than God of War III but the PS4 will allow a masterpiece to shine even brighter.

GoW3 looked as good as many early "nextgen" titles, why the hell are we getting a Remaster???
Just stop it already!!!!
New games for a new console please.

Considering that a lot of PS4 owners moved up from the 360 or is their first console, I'd say it's a great thing to give them the opportunity to enjoy this game. This game should be played by as many people as possible.

Don't get me wrong. I'll happily buy this again. It's the best entry in my opinion but enough with the remasters of not very old games. The only remaster I wanna see is Twilight Princess for Wii U.

There are only 2 remasters on the PS4 no? TLOU and now this game?

I do know that the PS3 we got a lot of PS2 HD upgrades though, but not all of those were Sony first party games.

Don't kid yourself Xenris. PS4 is full of RE-masters. As in games that released again as a port up to the PS4.

This list is long and starting at the beginning here's some early offerings.
Injustice (even says it's a remaster in the credits)
Rayman Legends
Tomb Raider DE
Trine 2
GTA5
etc etc etc
This list really does go on.
These games were mastered for one platform, released, and then ported or "re-mastered" for the PS4 and released again.
Don't let the marketing term fool us into thinking that unless it's stated on the packaging something is or isn't a remaster.

As far as I'm concerned the tangible difference between a trans-generational release like Dragon Age Inquistion, Cod AW, AC4 Black Flag, and a "re-master" is that the latter released AFTER an initial release at some point in time. The technical benefits of 1080p, smoother frame rates, and improved texture work and lighting is the norm between the gulf of the two platforms in either case. Because other than that the benefits of something like TLoU Remaster vs say something like Inquistion comes only in the form of what post release DLC the company tries to sell you on… which they'll likely eventually sell you on in the form of some sort of glorified "Game of the Year" edition down the road anyway.

Would prefer killzone 2 in 1080p and 60fps over this.

Would prefer Resistance series in 1080p and 60fps over Killzone…

I would prefer both! KZ2 was imo the best KZ game. And I would love a Resistence trilogy HD on the PS4.

Neat. Though $40 seems a little steep for the one fairly old game with old DLC. The last PS4 remaster I bought, DOA5 LR, packed in a number of fresh upgrades so that felt more exciting.

A remastered version of a 2010 game for $40?
I'm not sure if that's worth it.

Look at Borderlands Handsome Collection, that's how you do a remaster.

I'm content with my PS3 version… I have nothing else to say on the matter, i'm simply not interested.

Welcome to next gen lads where there are hardly any current good next gen games at all so they have to remaster old classics to make this gen look healthy. Oh dear…

Another remaster that didn't need to be done. Why don't they just remaster everything that was on PS3 and we can forget that the PS3 console that these games wowed us on in the first place even existed.

People buy PS4's to play new next gen games, if they want to play their old PS3 games they will keep their PS3's to play them. FFS!

Hehe Sony will likely eventually remaster all of their most popular games for PS4.
It's ironic. The PS3 ended up being the best place to play PS2 games. And the PS4 will be the best place to play PS3 games 😉

Ok, I'm guessing that trailer is supposed to show the new version right?? Well I can't say I see any dramatic improvements from the old PS3 version…
