Rumor: The Division Hits 1080p On PS4, 900p On Xbox One

By now, nobody should be surprised at a multiplatform game performing better on PlayStation 4.

Many major multiplats have done better in the resolution department on Sony's console, so another shouldn't cause a stampede of reactions.

However, this is hardly official: According to industry tipster Tidux , Tom Clancy's The Division will hit 1080p resolution on PS4, but only 900p on Xbox One:

Several of Ubisoft's next-gen offerings have produced higher resolution on PS4, and they're not the only manufacturer to put out a game with max 1080p HD on Sony's machine. For whatever reason, it seems developers just aren't getting the Xbox One to max out in that department.

We have to hear it straight from the developer's lips first, though.

I just really hope they hit 1080p on ps4 but locked 30 fps, firmly steady, if they rush and put 60 fps just for the numbers sake, it may cause the game to screen tear very often, like the Murdered Soul Suspect and Lords Of The Fallen did on ps4, and while i support the 1080p 60 fps logic(if the game can fully support without any problems why the heck not? right?)a locked 30 fps it's much more stable than an open 60 fps.. and please be Fully Vsync(ed) not adaptive not no at all!

hardly news, these things change so quickly within weeks, let alone months, let alone 8+ months before release!
not to mention optimisation does not normally happen till 3 or so months before release so to be talking about this now is pretty stupid.
and thats if it releases this year, theres been tons of rumours, and even ex developers saying there is no way thats going to happen!

Actually, most game developers find the best balance in the game closer to the beginning and middle stages of the game development process, rather than closer to the end. If they waited till the end and close to release the game would be so far from being optimized, they would have to delay the release and force huge updates out to the people who bought the game. Most of the time, if a game is not optimized enough to meet the standards set by the studio, the developers have to think of many things to take out, to meet the standard, hence why downloadable content is such a huge thing.

If they aren't hitting 1080p now, then they most likely won't later, unless they compromise on something to make it happen.

Edit,

One more thing. Devs mostly use development consoles that sony and microsoft give to studios, hence why they have a good idea as to what the console can handle closer to the beginning (not very beginning, but a couple months in), and towards mid-development. It's like working in the Cry Engine, UDK, or Unity for most engines. What you make can be played in real time for debugging and optimization. If it doesn't play well in real time, you are making cuts. That includes playing games at 1080p.

This is why the PS4 is more valuable to me. I don't usually buy military type games but the notion of teamwork within this game seems really appealing – Beats teamplay on CoD where everyone is running around like hyperactive children in a playgroup. Really looking forward to this and glad to know the PS4 version is up to what should easily be the industry standard.

I'm just never touching military games again man. After Platinum on CoD: WaW I felt that was it for me. End of the road.

Fantasy shooters like Resistance and plain strategy ones though, "Hello".

I think Tidux means "than," not "then."
