They've been hyping it for a while, and now it's almost time to download the hefty new PlayStation 4 update.
Sony has announced that firmware update v2.00 will be released for their new console on Tuesday, October 28. The update is so significant that Sony has code-named it "Masamune."
It will bring a bunch of great new features to the system, including YouTube sharing, Share Play (a remote PS4 owner can play with you just as if they were in the room), a USB music player that gives you the opportunity to use custom soundtracks, and the recently revealed Theme support. They'll also make some refinements to the home screen, which will now display the 15 most-used games and apps. There's also a new way to add PlayStation Plus games to your account without starting a download.
This is a must-have if you're a PS4 owner, and we appreciate anything that enhances the appeal of this slick console.
My body is ready
What's a USB music player?
Don't talk to me until I can put my own videos on this thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One day..
sounds pretty cool, cant wait for tue to try these out.
I can't wait to give the new home screen a shot. Nothing impacts the overall feel of a modern console more than the content organization and accessibility. It's as important to me as the initial interactions at a new bar/restaurant. Those critical first moments inspire my mood.
Currently, the screen has become too chaotic for my taste. I enjoy organization… A lot.

All I see is SHARE PLAY SHARE PLAY!
If the future of ps4 games lets me join other's games while they're playing it I'm SO GOING TO LOVE THIS!
In fact, more games should let you join your friends with an alt character and play in some some sort of a co-op.
Sir, I want to buy you a beer.
The theme support will be welcomed, specially if we could put some user-made themes (but probably not). Other than that nothing more interest me in this update.
15 last games? I have 8 and untill end of 2015 I expect 7 more 😀
The more the PS4 comes compatible with USB the better. It's by far the most accessible medium for transferring data. I'm always putting stuff on my PS3 via USB sticks and if the PS4 can become just as compatible I'll be very pleased.
On a side note, I see that the Xbox One is getting a 1TB HDD with a special Call of Duty Advanced Warfare console bundle here in the UK. Is there any news of the PS4 getting a bigger HDD?
PS4 gives you an option to replace it yourself up to 2TB SSD/HDD.
So I hear, wouldn't that void the warranty though?
It will not. Sony made it clear in it's blog.
There is no seal to tear when opening cover for HDD.
and yet STILL no play/resume feature……..
4 the gam3rs my a$$!
Waht play/resume?
You mean from the sleep mode? Because that would be VERY cool, just like on my PS Vita.
Yeah I believe they touted about such feature at the playstation event. I don't remember too clearly tho.
Well, I'm a gamer and SharePlay is a feature I wanted.
Does your Xbox1 have SharePlay? Maybe when it gets that, the PS4 will get Play/Resume (whatever that is).
no but they havent announced it.
unlike $ony, M$ actually like to release what they have promised before promising other things…….
Believe it or not, back in 2009 or so, I remember Playstation had a thing where you logged on to their site and made suggestions on what features you'd like to have on the console (PS3 at the time).
This "Share Play" feature, as well as what we currently know as Twitch were actually 2 things a friend and I suggested!
I'm glad it has finally arrived!
bah bring out some AAA games already!
sounds good looking forward to it, plus some new stuff to try out fun…
happy gaming
