SingStar Country Confirmed For U.S.

Today, Sony Computer Entertainment America has announced that SingStar Country for the PS2 will officially make North American landfall on October 28. We're getting 30 hit songs from many of the biggest names in country music today, and the likes of Gretchen Wilson, Brad Paisley, and Alan Jackson will grace the cover.

They're able to feature real-life artists on the cover for the first time in franchise history, thanks to an SCEA/BMG Nashville deal that adds a whole new level of authenticity to SingStar . As Wilson said, "It's great to be one of the first SingStar Country artists. This game lets me reach out to all country fans in a whole new way, not only giving them the chance to hear my music, but also to become a part of it." Other names you will recognize in the game include Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney, Miranda Lambert, and Kellie Pickler, who added- "I grew up wanting to be a country music singer and would sing other artists' songs, and now people are going to be singing my song in SingStar Country? That's cool!"

SCEA and Sony BMG Nashville have also teamed up for "Sing Your Way to the CMA Awards," which is a very sweet radio promotion that starts this month. In 12 major markets across the U.S., they will host SingStar Country tournaments, and winners will have a shot at attending the CMA Awards on November 12. The highest scorer from each tournament will have their performance recorded and placed online for the public to vote for their favorite. This will happen at HearSomethingCountry.com , so tune up those windpipes!

SingStar Country will be available in stand-alone disc form as well as packaged with two USB microphones, so if you're a fan, step up for your chance to shine on the virtual stage at the end of October.

I hate country. I dont know why, it just never appealed to me. This is good for country lovers, though. I wonder if we'll ever get one for metal. I can't imagine people trying to sing along to Slayer's "Jesus Saves!" lol
