Ben-DutkaGeez, what happened to the popularity of sports games?
When I was a kid, even gamers who didn't care about sports bought sports games. They were staples of the industry. Of course, they were all about fun and not simulation in those days, so it didn't really matter if you were a sports nut or not; anyone can have fun with Blades of Steel .
But these days, just about every sports game is a sim and if you're not a hardcore follower, you're probably not interested at all. Plus, we have much greater variety these days. These reasons might help explain the results of our latest poll: We asked you guys if you were getting Madden NFL 15 and the overwhelming majority responded with, "…they still make sports games?" That's telling.
This week, the question should be obvious. Who's gettin' Destiny ?

I just want 3 things from a hockey game (only sports video games I'll play); skate, pass, shoot. Ok 4 things, and punch! All this crap of aiming your shots, and whatever else they've added since NHL '94, to make it more realistic just takes the fun (there's that word again) out of playing.
Just play in NHL 94 mode, but I find that all the additions make the game more fun. It gives you more control over the player and allows you to do more, it also means it takes more skill to be good but that increased challenge makes it so much more rewarding when you score.

This weeks poll doesn't give the option of saying "Hell yes I am getting Destiny".
So I'll say it here.
Hell yes I am getting Destiny. Midnight launch for meeeeeee. I didn't spend the last year and a half hyping the game for everyone else to not love it.
There was no simple no in the last poll. So a lot of people said they still make sports games. Only one I get is Fifa.
The only sports game I own is 'Fight Night Round 3' on PS3. I feel no need to ever buy another game on boxing.
As for Destiny, nope, not fussed by it at all.
The NHL series of games is the only sports game I play nowadays. I'd gladly play some more Fight Night and NBA Jam, but those take forever to come out. Assuming they even make any more of those. Haven't played a football game since 2010 when the last Tecmo Bowl came out, as I've never liked the Madden franchise. Sure wish they would make another Tecmo Bowl, and a new Excitebike, and Ring King, and Punch-Out, and Baseball Simulator 1000. Man the old sports games were so much more fun compared to the ones we have now.
As for Destiny, that's a big no from me.
I haven't played Madden in a very long time but that is because the Dolphins have been very bad and I couldn't stand it and I couldn't bring myself to use a different team. That being said, I have always played the NCAA football game so I could create my small college and play with them. I missed that game this year. I also play Fifa and UFC.
