US Senators Campaign Against Manhunt 2, ESRB

Raise your hand if you could've predicted this. …there should be a lot of you with raised hands right about now.

Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive were forced to return to the drawing board with Manhunt 2 after the ESRB slapped the financially deadly "AO"-Adults Only rating on their game. The team cleaned it up a bit, resubmitted it, and squeaked in with the far more accessible "M"-Mature rating. However, as expected, some people still aren't happy with the game being on store shelves. A group of U.S. senators are campaigning against Manhunt 2 in an effort to get the ESRB to reassign their initial "AO" rating. The four names involved shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone- Joe Lieberman, Sam Brownback, Evan Bayh and Hillary Clinton (get outta town…really?). They have begun their campaign by issuing a letter to the ESRB, part of which is pasted below for your reading pleasure-

"We ask your consideration of whether it is time to review the robustness, reliability and repeatability of your ratings process, particularly for this genre of 'ultraviolent' video games and the advances in game controllers. We have consistently urged parents to pay attention to the ESRB rating system. We must ensure that parents can rely on the consistency and accuracy of those ratings." (source- GamesRadar)

Yep, with presidential aspirations for Clinton, this tactic makes perfect sense. However, perhaps she should turn her attention elsewhere; the MPAA, for example. In our humble opinion, we've seen far more questionable movie ratings than game ratings, primarily because the ESRB sticks to their requirements and restrictions time and time again. We've seen PG-13 movies that most certainly should've been rated R, and we've experienced this far more often than playing a T-rated game and believing it should've been M. Oddly enough, movies seem almost infallible at this time, while games can do no right.

Come on, guys, it's time to drop the torch and move on. We're all bored of this. If the ESRB says Manhunt 2 is M, we're inclined to believe them.
