Video games for charity. Who'd a thunk?
The Summer Games Done Quick speedrunning event has drawn to a close, and it managed to raise over $1.2 million for charity.
As you can see at the event's Twitter page, the grand total was $1,230,852 for Doctors Without Borders . And even though the official final tally may alter over the next few days, event organizers say the total will be "awe-inspiring." The subject of this speedrunning fun was the classic Chrono Trigger and you can check out some of the footage at the Games Done Quick YouTube channel . I'm not into speedrunning but some of these players are just supremely dedicated and skilled. That's kinda "awe-inspiring" in and of itself.
Man, it's a great concept but if there's one game you should absolutely savor, it's Chrono Trigger .
Meanwhile, nobody reports on it in mainstream media and DWB won't mention the help to anyone.
The Trigger is awesome.
thats really cool any games making money for a good cause that should be some good PR aye wink wink nudge nudge haha yeah. but if it wasn't on mainstream media then it won't really be good PR then for games.
happy gaming
