According to a recent report, Ubisoft has plans for other remakes in the Assassin’s Creed series. However, the reality of those remakes happening reportedly depend on the sales and reception of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.
The report comes from Insider Gaming, who shared that the Black Flag remake is only the beginning of the remakes Ubisoft has planned for the other older games in the series. The feedback of Black Flag Resynced will ultimately decide the outcome on if other remakes come to fruition.
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot stated in an interview back in 2024 that they had began planning for remakes in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. So the plans of there being others isn’t necessarily new, but its been two years since then, and a lot could have changed. But, Ubisoft does seem set on expanding the Assassin’s Creed franchise outside mainline entries and these planned remakes do make sense.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced was revealed, and it is the start of what could become regular projects for the developers at Ubisoft. The reception of this remake will single-handedly decide whether or not Ubisoft continues with these remakes.
The Assassin’s Creed franchise is nearly two-decades old now, and its surprising they are only just now trying a remake, as that strategy has become a normal tendency by other developers using the advanced technology we have now to create a definitive version of a classic game which released in an era with very limited technical power.
If Black Flag Resynced is a success, it could become a common sight to see remakes being released in the Assassin’s Creed series. For a franchise that is not slowing down despite its age, remakes may very well become the future of the series.
