Loco Roco Remastered Coming Soon

Loco Roco Remastered is the second of three games getting the remastered treatment . First was PaRappa the Rapper which seemed to go over fairly well. Next in line is Loco Roco which comes out on May 9th. Later on we’ll get a remaster of Patapon. It seems Sony is tapping into the nostalgia market.

For those who don’t know, Loco Roco is a unique 2D platforming game that appeared on the PSP (Remember those things?) in 2006. As the player you control the world itself by tilting it and bouncing it using the trigger buttons to make the loco rocos move around the world. Your goal is to find more loco rocos and collect the in game currency called pickories as well as the friends of the loco rocos called MuiMui. It’s fun and a very much a japanese style game.

The artstyle is very cartoony and delightful.. Almost too delightful. The music was also very catchy and mainly composed of the loco rocos singing. It’s one of those games that is just a joy to play and will bring a smile to most faces. The game has actually aged quite well and I’m assuming the enhanced graphics (1080p on PS4 and 4k on PS4 Pro) will make it look very pleasing to the eyes.

Cuteness aside, the collecting aspect is what makes this game a good one. You get to go back to previous levels and try to find all the hidden secrets. Some of which are quite challenging but very rewarding when you do discover them.

Beside the enhanced graphics, Loco Roco Remastered will include the ability to use motion controls with the dualshock 4. Which actually makes a lot of since you are tilting the world in game to move the loco rocos around.

Back in the day when this game came out, I spent quite a few hours saving all the loco rocos. It’s a fun and addicting game and I’m looking forward to checking it out again. Whether I spend the same amount of time finding everything again remains to be seen but I will enjoy it anyway.

Check out the video below to see it in all it's enhanced glory.

What about you? Did you play Loco Roco on the PSP? Did you enjoy it? And do you think it’s worth a remaster?

LocoRoco is still one of my favourite demo experiences that I've never bought.

I wasn't exactly sold when I saw the title. That gameplay video though did make it look surprisingly entertaining. My friend is getting a PS4 Pro. Wonder if I could convince him to pick this up. Hell, I might do it if it were on the Vita
