Playstation Releases for the Week of August 29-2

Assetto Corsa (PS4 – Retail & PSN) – August 30

It’s a racing simulator with high attention to detail on the cars and tracks. Where Forza and Gran Turismo are simulators with some arcade style features, Assetto Corsa is pure simulator. There isn’t a lot of simulators on consoles these days and this one looks very nice. Could be a great racing sim for car enthusiasts.

Attack on Titan (PS4 – Retail & PSN; PS3, PS Vita – PSN) – August 30

Based on the anime series of the same name, Attack on Titan has you using high flying acrobatics to confront giant humanoids. The anime series is pretty engaging and it looks like something that would translate well to a video game. The cell shading style lends well to the anime look as well. Let’s hope the gameplay is as good.

Binaries (PS4 – PSN) – August 30

A puzzle platformer that has you controlling to separate balls at the same time. Seems pretty simple until you see some of the levels. Pretty straightforward platforming affair but looks like it could be fun.

Claire: Extended Cut (PS4 and Vita – PSN) – August 30

It’s a new, updated version of a game that came out a couple years ago. Apparently this one delves a little deeper into story and the character Claire. I missed out on this one but I think I may try it out soon and see what it’s like. It has a Lone Survivor vibe to it and it looks nice graphically as well which is something they have been working on all this time.

Four Sided Fantasy (PS4 – PSN) – August 30

Remember on the old games like Pac-Man when you would go in one side of the screen and come out on the other side? That is the main mechanic in Four Sided Fantasy. It’s a puzzle game that uses this “screen wrap” in an interesting way in that you can turn that off and on. It’s kind of hard to explain. Maybe you should just watch the video below.

God Eater 2: Rage Burst (PS4 and Vita– Retail & PSN) – August 30

An action rpg that looks pretty awesome. Rage Burst is an extended version of the original God Eater 2. It comes with new weapons and new skills. Looks like a pretty solid game.

Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X (PS4 and Vita – Retail & PSN) – August 30

It’s rhythm game with focus on concerts and the like. I never got into rhythm games and I don’t really get into anime games much either. So uh, ya, it looks cool. I think.

Hue (PS4 – PSN, cross-buy) – August 30

It’s another puzzle game that uses a color wheel change the background color. This can do things like making objects disappear or others to appear. Seems like a cool mechanic to try and wrap your head around.

Livelock (PS4 – PSN) – August 30

Livelock is a top down shooter set in the future. Humanity has been just about wiped out and what’s left of human consciousness is in big robots. It’s also co op and judging from the video is going to have quite the sense of humor.

Lumo (PS4 – Retail) – August 30

Lumo is an isometric puzzle/adventure game. Must be the week for puzzle games. The game pays homage to older games from the 80’s and 90’s. It starts off with you playing a kid that gets sucked into an arcade cabinet. Just like on Tron.

Nebulous (PS4 – PSN) – August 30

Another puzzle game that takes place in space. It involves moving objects around to get your astronaut through safely. Watching a little ragdoll astronaut bounce around and get blown actually looks fairly entertaining.

Resident Evil 4 (PS4 – Retail & PSN) – August 30

A while back they announced there would be HD versions of Resident Evil 4, 5, and 6. RE4 is coming out this week. I fell away from Resident Evil after 3 so it might not be a bad idea to get back into the series again.

Strike Vector EX (PS4 – PSN) – August 30

It’s a space shooter in the third person. It looks fast paced and apparently has some pretty deep customization that can affect how you play. It actually looks pretty fun.

The Final Station (PS4 – PSN) – August 30

The Final Station is sort of survival/rogue like action game. It has a post-apocalyptic setting and what’s left is connected by the rail. It’s up to you to keep the train going, scavenge for supplies and save people. Looks pretty interesting.

The Witcher 3 Game of the Year Edition (PS4 – Retail & PSN) – August 30

Game of the Year edition includes the DLC and game fixes. If you haven’t played this game yet, this would be a good time to get. And I should take my own advice…

Tumblestone (PS4 – Retail) – August 30

Yet another action puzzler. This one involves shooting blocks into other blocks of similar color. Pretty common premise that comes with a humorous coat of paint and what looks like a lot of different game modes.

Verdun (PS4 – PSN) – August 30

It’s a multiplayer first person shooter set in World War I. There hasn’t really been a lot of games that tried this time period. I think the trench fighting will make for an interesting game.

Wanderjahr (PS Vita – PSN) – August 31

It’s nice to see the Vita getting some love. While there are a couple other releases this week for Vita, this is the only one that is exclusive. It’s a rpg and point and click in one. You choose different characters with different abilities to fight for you. The animation is pretty cool and looks like it could be fun for a while.

Star Hammer: The Vanguard Prophecy (PS4 – PSN) – September 1

A space fighting tactical game. Includes your typical strategy/naval gameplay and is turn based. So you’ll have plenty of time to figure out the actions you want to play and then watch them play out. The graphics look cool and seems like a nice little strategy game.

Looks like another busy week and I’m glad to see some stuff finally coming on the Vita. Although I’m still not sure how the poor thing is actually doing. I may get Witcher or RE4 at some point. All in all this would be a good week if you like puzzle games.

Any game that look interesting to you?

Resident evil 4,5 and 6:nah,4 had great enemies but imo terrible view and it was the beginning of more action and less survival[it was the beginning of the end].
I'm waiting for more gameplay from Resident Evil 7,and the remake of Resident Evil 2…there's still hope!

It was still a great balance of survival/horror though, few bullets, few save points, high freak factor. My fave in the series. Maybe a buy on a flash sale.

Attack on Titan looks like it could be good, that's a small clip though I'd need to see more. Not for $60 though.

Resi4 I'd get later on for cheaper, especially if it has that second campaign attached. I never played that. After Leon's game I was like "Woah, I just busted my arse I can't play a whole new game." I wanted to do bad things to the prez daughter.

I just nabbed Nuka World! Yay, and there's a Dev Sale on PSN now where I got Kholat (The game version of the true Dyatlov Ural Mountain Pass incident that left hikers dead in very paranormal ways.) I can't wait to dig into that.

I'd get Verdun in a minute if it was single player.

You forgot Bioshock collection. Though most people knew it was coming out.

Gonna lock-on on God Eater 2. It had a confusing release calendar I almost missed it. Its gonna keep me busy for a time, while waiting for Trails of Cold Steel 2.
