Kojima's new studio and partnership with Sony is now official and it all comes just one day after officially leaving Konami.
Obviously, the Metal Gear Solid creator knew about his exit for some time, so he has been preparing this fresh coming-out party…and the fans love it.
He has launched an official website for his new team, which is already comprised of former Konami employees, and they're actively searching for new talent as well (check their Careers section). The logo was designed by MGS character artist Yoji Shinkawa, by the way. And perhaps most impressive of all is the passionate letter Kojima and Co. have sent to all the gamers out there; it greets you when you visit their site but it's here in full:
"We are Homo Ludens (Those who play).
From the moment we enter this world, we instinctively invent ways to have 'fun,' and share our inventions with those around us. We are not asked to do this, nor do we need reasons to create. It is simply who we are.
We find one another and compete with one another. We laugh together and cry together; all while playing together. Our experiences bind us and liberate us. To share our most valuable experiences, we create stories, invent tools, and evolve the art of play. Play has been our ally since the dawn of civilisation.
'Playing' is not simply a pastime, it is the primordial basis of imagination and creation. Truth be told, Homo Ludens (Those who Play) are simultaneously Homo Faber (Those who Create).
Even if the earth were stripped of life and reduced to a barren wasteland, our imagination and desire to create would survive–beyond survival, it would provide hope that flowers may one day bloom again. Through the invention of play, our new evolution awaits.
Kojima Productions — We are Homo Ludens. We are those who play.
Hideo Kojima
Whatever these guys end up creating, we have every confidence that it will be a hugely anticipated PS4 exclusive (it's also coming to PC) and we anticipate nothing less than brilliance.
I am sure glad he didn't sign a deal with Microsoft.
Clearly, between the two, he already saw and experienced which had the better potential, or rather which version of both ground zero and phantom pain ran better on… so if he had to choose one? I haven't gotten into possible attach rate…
Lol nah,. Thanks Koji. I don't how I'd react had you gone with MS. Zero logic, unless the plan is multi platform. That I can understand, but not exclusive.
It would be suicidal for his studio to start like that, X-Box fanbase don't care much about Kojima games, his game would suffer the same fate Rise of the Tomb Raider got at low sales.
Not to mention the way MS does business doesn't gel with this kind of man or his culture.
This is big. But remember, his last vision for a game. that flying game, bombed pretty badly. It was a good game, but nothing to write home about.
Hmmm I suppose we can rule out him rebooting Syphon Filter because it's coming to PC.
Since there's no comment section at Kojima's new site as of yet, I guess I'll have to leave it here for the moment….
"Kojima, long may you & your new games studio forever prosper"
woo go kojima!
It's like he's putting flowers in Snake's gun.
I don't about you guys, but I'm excited.
Im so happy Kojima is free & has his very own studio!
Fallout is proof of his idea that creativity strives in a world stripped bare 🙂
Konami is gonna be so butthurt as they fall into obscurity in mobile gaming and we have Koji hard at work making a new masterpiece or 2 that will command great attention.
If I were Sony I'd put him on a modern turn based JRPG right away. Maybe Legend of Dragoon 2.

Man this is a good week and a half for games. All of Sony's announcements. Kojima working with Sony, Cloud and a Midgar staged dropped for Smash Bros. then Nintendo announced Bayonetta for Smash. Awesome.
