Enjoy A Horde Of Evolve Launch-Day DLC

If you enjoy Evolve , you'll probably partake.

There's a ton of launch-day DLC available for the new co-op-based shooter from Turtle Rock Studios. In fact, there's $136 worth of extra content available today.

Now, bear in mind that we're talking about additional content not included in the $25 Season Pass. This involves 44 pieces of add-on content ranging between $2 and $7 apiece, but they're not exactly critical. Most, if not all, are cosmetic; i.e., weapon and Monster Skins. As for the Season Pass, that will grant you four new Hunters and a bunch of other stuff.

The good news is that Turtle Rock says all new maps and modes will be free. Well, at least something is free.

Lame. Here's the overhyped game of the year.

b..bb…but it was made by the folks who made Left For Dead.. it has to be awesome. Valve is awesome. Therefore Evolve is awesome.

I honestly don't believe I have met a single person who has been hyping Evolve. Ben even went and called it a potential sleeper.

But this still isn't as bad as a few of the Japanese games we get I've noticed some of the more niche Vita or PS3 games from Japan can have well over $200 in add-ons.

I think the latest Hatsune Miku game had around a $150 cost for the two season passe on day one, one pass for songs and another for outfits. I also think that was just for the first year of content?

did it not get tons of awards from last year's E3 and or some other show? That's the sort of hype I was referring to. I don't expect this PS community to be as hyped as a Valve community would be. Similarly if I was at Shoryuken I would doubt they'd be posting excitement over Order or MGS.

EDIT: In fact, looking into it on a quick Google search, it indeed won Best of Show from sites like IGN (a massive site) and it won big at Gamescomm. Those sort of things some gamers pay attention to and I was one of them.

Overhyped might be dramatic despite its awards from E3. The foundation of the game is good. What they introduced as far as gameplay is good. There is a lot of good here, even the controls are spot on.

I bought it and I didn't get to play multiplayer because it apparently was still downloading. But I will say this, there won't be long term appeal. I regretted buying it last night because there's not much to keep people going back. I feel like once you beat the monster AI or not, that will be the last time players will *need* to.

Then I woke up this morning excited to play it because I remembered I had only been playing solo and not with friends which is why I bought it. My feelings are still the same but based on what I played the coop could be amazing even if it only last for a week. But you know I've beaten other games in a week and enjoyed that time too. So things are looking peachy today.

my other big issue is that you have to unlock characters and other things by completing weapon, and ability requirements. This separates the gameplay and I felt like I was forced to play one way. In coop this could be bad for the foundation because people might focus on doing more damage with their weapon than using their abilities and focusing in the task at hand.

Anyways like I said there's some things to love here I just don't think it's enough. We will see how they support it.

As far as the dlc goes it's extremely overpriced and not worth a dang.

I can honestly that Valve is the only developer I've ever disliked. The Source engine is overhyped and overused trash. Newell exposed his whole company's mediocrity with his early comments about the PS3, had an army of know nothings wasting everyone's time saying Steam Machines would make any sort of footprint in the consoles, Glados is not THAT funny (most overhyped character in gaming), and their games, from top to bottom, have NEVER been great, only good at best..

I mean dang, some big sites like Gamespot couldn't stop writing about Evolve. Go to Gamespot. Go to Evolve and see the mountains of multiple articles written for the game, even multiple daily.

I don't get out much… or maybe it's that I get out enough not to notice all of those Evolve headlines lol.

Kid- I agree with you about Valve. I did enjoy The Orange Box though. It was a terrible port to PS3 for sure. But never having played those games I enjoyed them. Not my favorite fps games but good enough that I played through them all to see what was the end.

I can't speak much for Portal but Half-Life and Half-Life 2 were phenomenal for their time. HL2 truly felt like a game from out of the future and it's influence has been had in basically every FPS since it landed (remember HL2 launched on PC and well before the PS3 and 360 era).

And yes. I hope Respawn ditches the Source engine for their next Titanfall game.

I meant real life Hype as in your everyday gamer not major game sites. I know a ton of people with X1's and I do not know a single person who is the least bit excited for Exvolve.

$136????? for ONE game. ONE GAME just to have "extras"

thats extremely pathetic for any developer go that route and expect $136 for ONE game.

$136. ONE. GAME. soooo ridic.

semi review:

thank goodness i rent my games. i feel sorry for those who paid a penny over $60.

already this game cant connect to mp due to "server issues"

it does have the potential to be a good game…but for short term. controls are a bit stiff, graphics are pretty good sooo im just playing solo til they fix this nonsense. besides i have the order coming in 9 days, maybe this game will last me til then.

agreed, and after looking at the dlc for evolve, its useless. just a bunch of skins.

the game actually isnt bad at all aside from server issues here and there, but its def got some fun factor to it.
